LED - Why Such Interest?
With the first generation of thin-film LED……in 2001 OSRAM pioneered thin-film technology. This technology – which makes almost all the light generated in the chip available for use – has given rise to such innovative products as OSTAR® Projection. The new high-flux LED from OSRAM are powerful enough to be used in mini projectors

What is an LED ?
A light emitting diode (LED) is a solid state electronic component
An LED produces light by injection luminescence
Individual LED’s are referred to as discrete
Discrete LED’s are mounted on a printed circuit board PCB for use
LED assemblies for lighting are referred to as LED modules

What are the advantages of LEDs?
Safe low voltage operation A single LED will operate on no more than 3.5V OSRAM LED modules operate at either 10 or 24V
Design cost reductions Fit and forget installation Relaxation of localised heating considerations Certain safety systems are not required
Cost effective solution
Offers new possibilities Compact luminaires More flexible solutions Full colour mixing possible

LINEARlight® module – LM01A
The LINEARlight® module is a basic, solid board module
Supplied in strips:
448mm x 10mm x 5mm containing 32 LEDs = 71 LEDs / metre
PCB can be broken down into sub units 56mm x 10mm with 4 LEDs
Power consumption: 3.2 to 4 Watts / module = 7.1 to 8.9 Watts / metre
Additional lenses can be added

BACKlight® – LM03A
Supplied as a chain of 8 cable connected PCBs
30mm x 30mm x 5mm each containing 4 LEDs
PCBs can be separated by cutting the wire links
The PCBs can be arranged in 3D shapes if required
Power consumption 3.2 to 4W per complete module
Depending on spacing between PCBs
module length = 240 to 555mm
Ideal for signage
