MODULAR MAINTENANCE
11
B F C
Maintenance according to VDMA 24186/DIN 31051We protect the system’s target state based on a specific maintenance schedule. We check, adjust, clean, replace, lubricate and preserve. We take all the criteria of a needs based and environmentally-sound operation into account and, of course, prepare a protocol.
Periodic leakage checks according to regulation 842/2006 and F-Gas regulationWe use electronic tools to check your refrigeration system at regular intervals for tightness on refrigeration side, and record the test results. If necessary, we recommend measures for immediate elimination of leaks.
Periodic operator training or operator instructions according to industrial safety regulation § 9 and BGR 500, chap.2.35Our certified specialists provide annual training and instructions for the operators of your refrigeration system based on a.m. regulations, thus keeping your staff up-to-date at all times.
Risk avoidance plan according to TRAS 110A risk avoidance plan is mandatory for refrigeration systems with ammonia using more than 300 kg refrigerant. We will develop a plan for you. To be on the safe side, a risk avoidance plan is also useful for systems with smaller filling capacities – to be on the safe side!
P
B F C P
Inspection according to VDMA 24176 and 24197/DIN 31051Using a specific inspection plan, we establish the actual state of your system and determine if there is a discrepancy to the required target state.
Maintenance gas warning system ion-selection according to EC 842/2006The scope of services of this module includes a functionality check. Any deficiencies detected will be corrected by our service. We also perform an annual calibration. The EC reg-ulations EN 842/2006 and EN 378-3/2008 stipulate the use of gas warning systems for refrigeration systems with more than 300 kg of refrigerant. However, the installation is well worth it even when using a smaller amount. The regulation states that an installed gas warning system cuts down on the frequency of leakage checks, which is the responsibility of the operating company. For example, installing a gas warning system reduces the number of leakage checks by half, on systems with a filling capacity of more than 30kg. ENGIE Refrigeration offers various types of gas warning sys-tems. Leak detection systems, ranging from compact systems to highly variable 19 inch plug-in units, can be installed for the various industrial gases.

Risk analysis according to industrial safety regulation § 5We also analyse and document the risk potential of your refrigeration system after a conversion and expansion.
Documentation according to industrial safety regulationThe Industrial Safety Regulation stipulates timely and complete documentation of all activities performed on refrigeration systems – naturally, we take care of this for you! We document all information in the machine notebook located on the system, and talk with you personally about obvious risks. This is also documented in a protocol and thus in accordance with regulations.

RepairsWe restore your system to its target state. For instance, the elimination of damage, the replacement of worn and defective parts and equipment.
Thermography/Thermal image cameraBy using a special camera we can show the flow and change of the surface temperature in real time. This allows conclusions about inaccessible flow progression, decreasing tightness of insulation materials, and unusual heat development on electrical components.
Wall and layer thickness measurementWhen measuring the layer thickness, we can check the thickness of paint or rubber layers on tanks and pipes of the chiller which is important in early detection of cor-rosion. Wall thickness measurement determines the material thickness on heat ex-changers and pipes. This way, we can determine whether the loss in wall thickness is due to visible corrosion or presumed cavitation pitting (damage due to pressure fluctuations).
Control cabinet maintenanceAvoid damage to electronics and motors! Control cabinet maintenance includes a comprehensive, systematic visual check of all components and a tensile test of the cables located in the control cabinet. Furthermore, the terminal screws on all con-tactors and auxiliary contactors, coupling relays and cable clamps are checked for tightness. Defective electrical components are recognised by their excessive heat radiation via infrared thermography, thus facilitating accurate replacement.

Oil analyses and rapid testsWe perform two types of oil analyses. A rapid analysis allows on-site testing of humidity or acid residues in the refrigeration circuit. During the thorough analysis, the oil is extracted from the system and submitted to our laboratory. From there you will receive a complete status report about the refrigeration circuit.
Setting and adjustment of system peripherals To operate efficiently, the system must be optimally set – we ensure this by optimis-ing the coordination during each maintenance interval according to energy aspects.
Explosion protection document according to industrial safety regulation § 6It is useful and necessary for each person involved in the system to have an explosion protection document readily available at any time. We issue and continuously update the documentation of measures to prevent explosion risks.
Small compressor overhaul with oil and filter changeWe check the system function and condition at regular intervals, exchange worn parts and equipment and repair or replace any faulty parts.
Large compressor overhaulWithin the scope of services, we perform a complete com-pressor overhaul as specified by manufacturer and if neces-sary, we even replace the compressor.
Dynamic measurements on drives with evaluationWe can evaluate the state of your chiller by means of dynamic and electrical measurement according to ISO 10816-3. Of course, we document our results and give you the written evaluation which is an important basis for further action that might be required.
Vibration measurementsThe vibration measurement is part of routine maintenance within the scope of oper-ational monitoring, and records cumulative values as well as frequency spectrum of housing vibrations. Increasing vibration levels at constant operating conditions and charge state indicate a deterioration of the system.

UPDATE SERVICES
Invest to save:upgrade services by ENGIE Refrigeration.
Do you want more performance and sustainability at lower costs? Then take a look at our upgrade services for your refrigeration system. Here we uncover cost and savings potentials and make sure that your refrigeration system is perfectly equipped for efficient operation. We can significantly extend the service life of your chiller through system adjust-ments, and you can avoid investment costs of a new system for a long time.
When we convert your refrigeration system with new com-ponents and operating fluids, it not only becomes state of the art, but we also take environmental aspects and all legal regulations into account. Contact us and discover how much potential is in your refrigeration system. It’s worth it!
QUANTUM Retrofit conversionAre you thinking about replacing the entire system because of poor refrigeration capacity? This is not always necessary. Updating your refrigeration system can make an important difference, often it is enough to just change the compressor. The oil-free, magnetic bearing QUANTUM compressor works with the sustainable refrigerant R-134a. It is characterised by a high level of energy efficiency and compact design. A particular benefit to you is, that with the QUANTUM retrofit offer from ENGIE Refrigeration, your existing chiller can stay where it is and only the compressor and control cabinet are replaced. Any piping work necessary on-site will also be carried out. The old compressors will be properly disposed by us.
R-22 phase out: Refrigerant conversionAs of 2010, the chlorine containing refrigerant R-22 could only be used in a recycled form for service and maintenance. From 2015 its use will be completely banned. This affects the availability on the market, increasing the price for recycled R-22. In combination with the strict legal requirements, this poses a financial risk to you. Get ready and plan your R-22 phase out now – we will assist you.
Compliant upgrade with retention systemsDoes your refrigeration system use glycol as a refrigerant? Did you know that you – the operating company – are re-sponsible for equipping this refrigeration system with a reten-tion system? This is specified by the Water Resources Act. Leaks resulting in water pollution could be associated with high costs - this applies not only to glycol, but also to the oils in the cooling system. Stay safe by relying on the retention systems from ENGIE Refrigeration.
Automatic cleaning of heat exchangers with ENGIE POWER FLOW SYSTEMEffective temperature exchange requires clean pipes. Each pipe in the ENGIE POWER FLOW SYSTEM is equipped with its own brush that permanently travels back and forth with the flow between the two collection tubes at the pipe ends. This keeps the inner walls of the pipes free from dirt and deposits, and maintains the efficiency of your system.

Do the Efficiency-Check:Our service for increased
performance and efficiency for third party systems.
You can take advantage of our excellent service even if your refrigeration system has not been built and installed by us. The ENGIE efficiency check shows possible performance
The longer a system is in operation, the greater the wear. However, the risks for the operating personnel and the environ-ment can also increase. In this area, prevention is of particular importance. Once a person has been harmed, it is too late. We use a detailed criteria catalogue to check whether your system shows signs of potential risks that in turn can pose a hazard to people and the environment during further operation. Of course we will also let you know about possible violation of regulations, laws and standards, and point out how you can bring the system in compliance with the law, protecting yourself, i. e. the operating company, from high follow-up costs.
Increased performance, increased sustainability, reduced costs
In addition to risk analysis, another important topic of the ENGIE Refrigeration efficiency check is energy efficiency. We know the adjusting screws for energy efficient operation, and can therefore provide you with a more reliable, sustainable and cost-efficient refrigeration. In addition to a direct, positive impact on operating costs, this also retains the value of the system and extends the service life.
No matter what refrigeration system you have selected: ENGIE Refrigeration converts to modern components and operating fluids, optimises your refrigeration system and makes it state-of-the-art. Do the efficiency check – it will definitely be worth it!

REFRIGERATION ACADEMY
Your own knowledge is the best service: ENGIE Refrigeration teaches you about cooling.
Specialist and advanced training seminars offered by the Refrigeration AcademyWhen it comes to refrigeration, we want you to know exactly what to do. The Refrigeration Academy (in short ”dka“) brings our customers and interested professionals up to date with latest refrigeration technology. Each year, we report on topics related to refrigeration technology in professional technical seminars and further training seminars. We consider this an important customer service and contribution to the advancement of specialists and experts.
Technical seminar on refrigeration technologyThe four-day basic and advanced courses on refrigeration technology impart profound technical knowledge of refrigeration cycle and applied prod-ucts, safety devices and equipment. This allows you to gradually increase your knowledge about refrigeration. We also inform you about the history of re-frigeration technology, current laws and regulations, as well as the possibilities and advantages of a refrigerant con-version. You will learn everything that is important about the commissioning of refrigeration systems and the fast way to locate and analyse errors. The pro-gramme is rounded off with a practical session and a tour of the factory.
Technical seminar on product technologyThe two-day technical seminars on product technology impart detailed knowledge on the optimal use of our products: efficient operation, layout and correct use. Depending on the product, you will gain knowledge of QUANTUM refrigeration systems with oil-free com-pressor technology or of energy efficient refrigeration. Practical examples expe-rienced during a factory tour can also deepen your understanding. The tech-nical seminars on product technology ensure that you are always up to date.
On-site trainingAll technical seminars can also be held on site, i.e. directly at your system. Dur-ing joint discussions, the content of on-site training sessions is adapted to the specific requirements of the participants and their current level of know-how. Foryou, this means precision training to quickly fill the gaps in the knowledge of your employees about refrigeration and cooling. Also, as part of the on-site training, the ENGIE Refrigeration expert can perform various tests and evalu-ations on the system, combining the further education of employees with system tests that are sometimes legally required by the plant operator.
