master programmes. Driven by state-of-the-art research, each programme combines a stimulating intellectual environment
with the opportunity to gain experiences in situations very similar to those you will encounter in the business world: working
and collaborating in diverse groups, conducting independent research, implementing ideas, and interacting in international
settings. We offer you the best of theory and practice to enhance your business career.
All our master programmes have the following key features:
A mix of educational formats ranging from case studies and group projects to internships and individual research
Small-scale, interactive classes that engage you in debate and discussion
Being part of a diverse and international student body
Challenging academic theory that reflects the latest business and management thinking
Upon graduation you willhave an internationally-esteemed qualification, and willjoin a network of morethan 28,000 RSMalumni.
Each programme is internationally oriented, taught in English, and meets the structure for bachelor and master degrees
introduced by the Bologna Accord.
All our master students are asked to write a final thesis, which will deepen your knowledge of research design, research
methods and research skills in the field of management. Additionally, preparing your thesis will help you understand the
application of research in various management areas, and give you skills you can use to write research proposals starting
with the one you will write for your master thesis. This will be your opportunity to test specific theories in practice and a
genuinely challenging and rewarding pursuit.
You will find plenty of information about RSM and its master programmes in this brochure and online, including first-hand
testimonials from students and alumni. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require any further information to help
convince you to make RSM your choice.

INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT CAREER
THE IM / CEMS DIFFERENCE
The IM / CEMS at RSM is distinguished by its intensive education and relatively
small class sizes, encouraging students and staff to connect the curriculum to
a broad social context. In IM / CEMS, the intertwining of education and extra-
curricular activities facilitates the achievement of targets, according to NVAO
(the Accreditation Organisation of The Netherlands and Flanders), which has
rewarded the IM / CEMS programme with special recognition for this aspect of
the programme.

WHAT ARE YOUR PROSPECTS?
A survey of RSMs latest graduating cohort (2012) shows that three months after
graduation, 91% of IM / CEMS graduates had found a job, 80% of them in international
companies. The CEMS network helped many students find a first job; more than 40%
of them started their careers working for one of CEMS corporate partner companies.
If you have ambitions for an international career, the international focus of this programme
speaks for itself. RSM IM / CEMS graduates live and work in 10 different countries; 90% of
them speak three or more languages at a high level. This international aptitude gives our
graduates great flexibility to use their skills wherever there is demand: more than 50%
of IM / CEMS graduates chose to work outside of their home country, and more than 70%
interact with at least three different nationalities every day. Typically, IM / CEMS graduates
work in management consulting, consumer goods, or the financial or energy sector.
The survey indicates that our graduates are highly satisfied with the early career success
they achieve after graduating from the IM / CEMS programme. More than half consider
themselves in the top 5% salary bracket for their age group.

The dual-degree MSc International
Management /CEMS programme
enabled me to develop academic
and professional skills through its
unique combination of theoretical
and practical teaching methods.
Thisincludes lectures fromprominent
academics, personal feedback from captains of industry
and a real-life International Business Project consulting
assignment. It taught me how to perform under pressure
in an international and challenging setting. Diverse
groups in terms of age, study background and work
experience are formed every semester, and this allowedme to collaborate with students who had more than four
years of commercial work experience. The IM / CEMS
programme was really international; I began with a
block seminar on Ethical Decision Making in Helsinki
and St. Petersburg, and continued with an exchange
term in Vienna, interspersed with seminars in St. Gallen,
in Budapest and in Copenhagen. The programme provides
many opportunities to take full ownership of your own
career development. My favourite part was my summer
internship at an American National Security think tank
in Washington D.C. in 2013 and the drafting of my
MSc thesis on energy and technology.

THE CEMS SPIRIT
CEMS students andalumni aroundthe
world share a sense of curiosity, ambition,
awareness and passion for international
experiences. They have a broad world
view thatis accepting of cross-cultural
differences, and accept corporate social
responsibility and sustainability as
important values. They call thiscommunity feeling the CEMS spirit.
After graduation, lifelong membership of
the CEMS Alumni Association offers you
a rich resource of information, job and
networking possibilities. Many students
find their first job even before graduation,
thanks to the close collaborations between
students and CEMS partner companies
that take place during the programme.
RSMs International Management /CEMSprogramme has been the
ultimate preparation for my
international career in marketing.
The multicultural group work and
semester at ESADE Business
School have taught me how to
create synergies in an international environment. I was
introduced to the idea of responsible leadership through
my CEMS Club presidency, the skill seminars and the
international internship. And finally, winning the Henkel
Innovation Challenge with two other CEMSies was how
I got to know my current employer. I started my career atHenkel Belgium as a junior brand manager for laundry
products. Within two years I was offered my dream
position within the international marketing unit, being
responsible for several emerging markets.
Im still reaping the fruits of my CEMS-MIM studies
now that I am working at the Henkel headquarters in
Dusseldorf in a highly international environment.

keep to a general track for a broader training in all functions of business to prepare
for a career in higher management. If you did not go abroad in the first semester,
then you spend the second semester at a CEMS partner university.
Most students plan their 10-week internship during the summer break, and this
is where you really start to gather international experience in a country with which
you are relatively unfamiliar. This is your opportunity to begin building your
international and professional network. The third and final semester is tailored
to help you produce your master thesis, considered to be the culmination of theIM / CEMS programme. It begins with a research clinic in international management,
followed by academic exploration and development leading to your thesis.

IM / CEMS students spend either the first or second semester at a CEMS partner
university. All partner universities share the same curriculum structure and course
design. A CEMS club at each university helps students to find an active social life,
and promotes the CEMS community spirit.
An intensive one-week block seminar starts the first semester of the IM / CEMS
programme. You take core courses covering the foundation of international
management topics, followed by one or two elective courses. Some students
spend the first semester studying at their exchange destination.
The second semester allows more in-depth theoretical specialisation while studying
and conducting a consultancy-based business project for an international company.
There is scope to tailor courses to a certain functional domain, and tracks can be
followed for marketing, finance, supply chain management or strategy. Or you can

Before coming to RSM, I had already
worked as a management consultant in
Germany. I chose the controlling track
of the accounting master to deepen my
knowledge in the two core concepts of
management: Finance and Accounting.
Having worked already, I had to adapt
to the academic teaching approach at RSM. Now, however,
I very much appreciate it as it provided me with yet another
way of tackling problems. The classes in the accounting
master are of a perfect size and the quality of teaching is
high. What I value most about the programme is the
possibility to choose an elective from outside your
own specialisation. It gives you the possibility to apply your
learning in a different field and to think outside the box.

how IT can improve processes in business. It is an interesting master programme because it explores

I decided to do an ERIM research
master at RSM because of its
professional viewpoints towards
academic career development.
From day one, I worked with world-
class faculty to develop a research
profile and formulate research questions that would give
me a strong position in the academic job market after the
programme. What also stands out is the degree to which
RSM is connected in academia and industry both in the
Netherlands and internationally. ERIM stands out because
of the level of attention you receive, in terms of personal
attention to your research needs and the flexibility you
have in designing your programme. There is a truly
wide array of courses at RSM and ESE which are on
the same campus.

ERIM PhD candidate
The main reasons for highly talented
candidates to choose our doctoral
programme are our devotion to their
personal and academic career develop-
ment, the integration of doctoral
projects in our international and
frontier research groups, and the selective focuson top
quality publishing, right from the start. Choosing to start
your research career with us means a unique chance to
work with leading scholars in the field of research in
management, and to work on your doctoral development
programme in a university with a world class reputation.

A GATEWAY TO EUROPE
Within easy reach of Amsterdam, Brussels, London, Paris and Berlin, the strategic

that of Amsterdam with a hip and creative young scene filling restaurants, bars, cafes
and nightclubs.

restaurants, and it has one of the largest bookstores in Europe. Rotterdam is also world

AN OUTDOOR, SPORTING CITY
RSM offers many options for physical exercise and sports both on
and off campus. The city of Rotterdam has great sports facilities for
everyone at every level; for those who want to take part and for those preferring
to remain a spectator.
The citys sporting credentials include national and international events all
year round a marathon, plus tennis, hockey, water sports and speed skating
championships. It also boasts several world-class stadia dedicated to the most
popular sport in the Netherlands, football. You can also take part in less typically
Dutch sports and activities including cricket, baseball, yoga and golf.
Rotterdam can claim to be a great outdoor city too, with abundant parks,
green spaces and a superb network of cycle routes linking it to open countryside,
thanks to the city's emphasis on enabling everyone to get around by bike.
