Rahul Gandhi today returnedhome from his 56-day unex-plained sabbatical which hadraised questions over his leader-ship of the party that is strug-gling to find its feet after a stringof electoral defeats.

The 44-year-old leader arrivedhere at 11.15 AM on a ThaiAirways plane from Bangkok,ending days of intense speculationover his return and amidst celebra-tions by party workers who burstcrackers outside his residence.

The return of Rahul comesahead of the party's plannedfarmers' rally here on the con-
