summoned in VVIP chopper caseNEW DELHI, July 24:

Former AgustaWestland andFinmeccanica DirectorsGiuseppe Orsi and BrunoSpagnolini, ex-IAF Chief S PTyagi and others were todaysummoned as accused by aDelhi court in a money launder-ing case related to the VVIPchopper scam.

Special judge Arvind Kumardirected the accused persons toappear before the court onSeptember 12, while issuingfresh non-bailable warrantsagainst Italian middlemen CarloGerosa and Guido Haschke andDubai-based businessmanRajeev Saxena in the case.

Besides six, the court alsosummoned as accused 28 Indianand foreign individuals andcompanies, including lawyerGautam Khaitan,AgustaWestland and its parentcompany Finmeccanica SPA.

The court passed the direc-tions after taking cognisance ofthe charge sheet, saying therewas enough evidence againstthe accused in the matter relat-ing to the alleged money laun-dering to the tune of aroundEuro 28 million.

The probe report, filedthrough special public prosecu-tors D P Singh and N K Mattaunder sections 3 and 4 ofPrevention of MoneyLaundering Act (PMLA), alsoclaimed that the kickbacks werepaid by AgustaWestlandthrough two different chan-nels.(PTI)
