ROSARY
The month of October is the month of the Rosary. During the month of October
we will pray one decade of the Rosary at the end of each Sunday Mass. I encourage you to say at least one decade of the Rosary each day during the month of October together with your family.
“May the Rosary always be in your hands”. Message of Our Lady from Medjugorje, February 25, 1988.
Parish Wedding Anniversary Celebration Saturday, November 14, 2015
Are you celebrating a milestone wedding anniversary
this year (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 years or more)?
Depending on response this may be opened to other
years.
Sign up to take part in the St. Joseph’s Parish
Wedding Anniversary Celebration. A celebratory Mass
will be held in our church on Saturday, November 14 at
5:00 pm. Couples will be invited to renew their
marriage vows and to receive a special blessing. Pick up
a registration form (salmon in color) from the
brochure wall at the side entrance or from the
magazine rack at the front entrance and return it
before Nov. 1st
There may also be a video presentation so if you
would like your marriage photo included please send an
email with a picture attached preferably in jpeg
format to sevilla @shaw.ca ASAP, no later than Nov 1st
Sacramental Marriage It has come to my attention that many couples in our parish who are free to marry in the Catholic Church have chosen to live in a civil marriage or common-law relationship. As your pastor I strongly encourage you to contact me as soon as possible to explore the possibility of receiving the Blessing of the Church though the Sacrament of Marriage. Please know this will be held in the strictest confidence by calling the parish office or email to stjpastor@shaw.ca
New Hymn Books – As you will have noticed
the “Gather” Third Edition hymn books have arrived
and have been paid for. We hope to enjoy these
books for many years to come so please take care of
our investment. Join in the singing – remember it is twice praying!

WORLD MISSION SUNDAY - 2015 Today, in all the parishes of the world, in Africa, Asia, Oceania, America and Europe, we celebrate World Mission Sunday. It is the Sunday of solidarity and sharing with our poorest brothers and sisters of the Universal Church. Today, we celebrate our vocation as missionaries sent to proclaim the Good News. For the 1250 dioceses which are still under the responsibility of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, let us be generous so that they can achieve their pastoral projects for the poorest people. They are part of the more than 6,000 projects that are supported through this unique collection. Thank you very much for your generosity!
The Church sets aside the month of November to remind us to pray for our faithful departed. I hope many of you pray daily throughout the year for your beloved dead, and for all who have preceded you into the life to come. Every day, and in each Mass offered, the Church remembers those already in heaven as well as those now being made ready and fit for God’s glory. By your prayers and good works, and by the offering of Holy Mass, you do assist those you love who have left this life before you.
During changes in the Church we hear less of the urgency to pray for the Souls in Purgatory. Often we hear people say they are most certain their relative or a friend has gone straight to Heaven! Who knows? They lived such a good life and suffered so much from a long illness, but even so, who are we to say this for certain? Never forget that the most precious gift we can give souls departed is to have Mass offered for someone who has just died.
To satisfy our desire to help our deceased Loved Ones participate in God's light, happiness and peace 12 Masses will be offered during the whole coming year – starting on All Souls’ Day; November 2.
Special envelopes are available on the brochure wall at the side entrance for those who wish to have their deceased Loved Ones remembered in special prayers on All Soul’s Day and throughout the year.
Please PRINT names CLEARLY in BLOCK letters and return through the Sunday collection basket or to the parish office no later than October 28.
Please indicate the Mass you will attend (9:30 am or 7:00 pm). Names will be included at your choice of Mass time if indicated. If not they will be read at the Mass with the least names.

SHARING GOD’S GIFTS 2015
As of Oct. 15th approximately 50% of St. Joseph’s
Parishioners have contributed $44,705 to Sharing
God’s Gifts. The remainder needed to reach our
goal is $27,355. There are obviously many
parishioners who have yet to contribute. As
Catholics one of our responsibilities is financial
support to our Parish and the Archdiocese. We do
not have access to government grants and we do no
campaigning for funds in the community. St.
Joseph’s Parish and the Archdiocese are totally
dependent on what you contribute financially. It is
a matter of justice that ALL parishioners
participate in Sharing God’s Gifts and not just
some.
Your donation to Sharing God’s Gifts must be over and above the regular weekly contributions that are made because this money is used to cover the regular operating expenses of our parish.
You must realize nothing in life is free, not even for the Church which must also pay taxes & utilities etc. If all 800 families would give just $240 (that is just $20 per month) we would have collected $192,000.
Please be generous. Any monies raised over and above will remain in St. Joseph’s Parish for our benefit.
Please return Sharing God’s Gifts envelopes via the collection basket with your substantial donation. Envelopes are available in your collection boxed sets or on the brochure wall at the side entrance.
Weekly
Marriage Tip
Children need time and space, attention, affection, guidance and conversation…They need jokes, play and touching. They need to have stories told to them by adults who know and love them. Which one are you best at giving? Weakest?
Mass Intentions and Mass & Prayer Requests on Wednesdays
To request a Mass please use the envelopes found at the entrances of the Church and place them in the collection basket. Masses are already booked until January 2016. If you have an urgent or a date sensitive request such as – health, birthday, anniversary, thanksgiving, special intention or death anniversaries please use a special envelope Mass & Prayer Request on Wednesdays. These intentions and names will be honoured at Wednesday Mass & at the Benediction with the Blessed Sacrament at 3 pm. If you would like a deceased loved ones name mentioned at a weekend Mass in the Prayers of the Faithful please contact the parish office at least 2 weeks prior. Unfortunately you may not be accommodated if you bring the request the day of. The office is not open on Sundays (or Saturdays) therefore these requests need to be processed in advance. Following the mentioning of a name the Mass will be offered on the earliest available date or included in the Prayer Requests on Wednesdays.
Bulletin on line
http://stjwinnipeg.weebly.com/
St. Joseph’s Parish is proud to introduce the “bulletin on line”; a new tool which you can use to stay informed about your parish. This is an effort to be more environmentally friendly (and cost efficient), by allowing those who use computers etc. to access the bulletin on line and not take a printed bulletin from the church. You can sign up to have the bulletin delivered to your email inbox by navigating the page under “Contact” and scroll to the bottom where you will find a section that you can submit your email address.
Many thanks to Hazel Sevilla for sharing her time and talent to create this “on line page” for our bulletin.
Special Thanks to the Legion of Mary for creating a
beautiful Thanksgiving display last weekend. The
sharing of your time and talent is greatly appreciated.
