This is a book of maps.

These books are an alphabetically arranged set,

used to find facts about people, places,

events, or things.

Alphabetically arranged book containing word spellings, pronunciations, parts of

speech, and the definitions.

Book containing synonyms and

antonyms of particular words. Can be helpful

in adding variety to your writing.

Book containing information and statistics about popular events.

Usually an update is published each year.

The “business page”of the book, this is one of the first few pages of a book,

containing the title, author, publisher, and

The section in theback of the book that

has key topics of the bookand the pages where those

topics can be found.

This is supplemental material, found at the end of the book, often

contains charts, graphs, tables, etc. related to theinformation of the text.

These are usually foundin the book in large or bold

print at the beginning of eachchapter of the book.

These are the wordsunderneath a photograph, chart,

or map explaining what ishappening in the picture or

illustration.

This type of print is used in texts to make words

stand outor appear larger.

This is the paper or plasticcoated covering of a book

that is found on the outsideof the book which features

the title of the book, the author, a colorful photo,

and often a brief synopsis of the book and some

biographical information on the author.

This is the sentence of a paragraph that gives the

main idea.

This is a book written about a person by

someone else.

This is a book written about a person by

that person.

A book that contains information that is

not fiction; the information

contained is true and real.

A book that contains

information that is made up from

the author’s imagination.

A type of book in the library including atlases, almanacs, dictionaries, encyclopedias,

and thesauruses. These books are not meant to be

taken from the library.
