Why do they call these gatherings “chapters”?

We as Franciscans

have conferred a particular

connotation to the term chapter and

that is “fraternity”.

La familia Franciscana ha dado al término capítulo una conotación especial que es “fraternidad.”

For Saint Francis the Chapters

were of extreme importance in the life of his

friars.

Clare writes: “The Chapter is important to consult with all the sisters...”

The Chapter is also a

feast ... to celebrate.
