Final Remarks
Pelotas Basin is a New Frontier Basin, still little known and explored;
However, it has a promising hydrocarbon potential, specially because
this basin presents a considerable thickness in the drift section (>11,000
meters), furthermore, a large source kitchen was identified in the
southern part of the basin;
In the area on offer, the main play comprises turbidite sandstones in
stratigraphic traps, bringing in a new exploration model for Pelotas
Basin;
Final Remarks
Several leads were identified overlying the giant source kitchen
and/or in a favorable location for migration routes;
Turbidite lobes and channels in pinch-out were identified and
delimited within the source rock section. The expectations are for
oil accumulation discoveries;
Unrisked volume in place estimated for the area on offer is about
15 billion barrels of oil. The leads were identified exclusevely in 2D
regional seismic data.
