December 2007 11/26/07 - 12/14/07 11/26/07

“Special” Graduation Rate Data Request * 10/15/07 – 1/31/08 Not Applicable (Templates with snapshot dates are
not included in this submission)
5
* Pennsylvania will begin public reporting of graduation rates using the new National Governors Association’s cohort graduation rate definition beginning with the class of 2010 (these students were ninth graders in 2006-07). This graduation rate calculation requires individual student level data. Since PDE to date has not collected student level data, PDE needs to reach back and collect the first time ninth graders from the 2006-07 school year. While this is not a formal PIMS data collection, PIMS will be leveraged for this initiative.
PIMS Pilots
8
• 14 LEAs participated in PIMS non-SIF Pilot for October data submission
• Non-SIF Pilot will continue for subsequent data submissions, including initial Staff data submission
• Expect Pilot LEAs to submit staff data in late October 2007
• SIF pilot planned for Spring 2008 with three pilot LEAs

• PIMS Steering Committee to determine scope
• Potential scope areas: assessment, safe schools, migrant, special ed, early childhood, postsecondary
• eTranscripts
• Rollout Cognos business intelligence tools, leveraging eScholar’s metadata framework, to PDE and LEA users for ad hoc reporting and data analysis
• Provide SIF infrastructure at state level using Edustructures solution for those LEAs who wish to use vertical reporting and student locator framework functionality
