Phonics – Monday

Starter: n jolly phonics

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NV7iWirYxYM

There are lots of things that begin with the n

sound.

Can you put a circle around the pictures that

begin with n?

Have a go at joining the

dots. Can you guess what

you have drawn?

I’ll give you a clue it

begins with n!

I spy with my little eye

something beginning with n…

Monday – Literacy

This week we would love you to keep a vegetable diary. Each day you can draw all

the different vegetables that you have eaten. I wonder if you can eat at least

one vegetable each day.

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday

Monday – Maths

This is an activity that can be done outside!

Draw a large circle for the middle of a flower and draw 5 petals around it. (You

could use chalk on the ground or draw on paper).

Choose a number depending on your child’s ability e.g. 5 and write it in the

middle circle.

Challenge your child to find the correct number of objects and place them in

each petal e.g. 5 stones, 5 sticks, 5 leaves etc.

Repeat with other numbers.

We would love to see your photos on Tapestry.

Yoga

This week for yoga I thought we would look back at a great story of the Three

Little Pigs.

What would you build your house out of? Why?

Phonics – Tuesday

Starter: n jolly phonics

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NV7iWirYxYM

Have a go at copying over the n letters.

Capitals: N N N

N N N N

Lowercase:n n n n

n n n n n Can you colour the n sounds you can see?

Tuesday – Literacy

Oliver’s Grandad has forgotten what he needs to do to look after his vegetable

patch. Can you draw some pictures to remind him? Ask an adult if they can add

labels on for you.

Tuesday – Maths

Have a look at some real coins (1p, 2p, 5p, 10p). Can your child tell you anything

about the shape, colour or value of the coin. Have a look if you can spot any

numbers you know.

Have a go at doing some coin rubbings. Place the coin under a piece of paper and

use a pencil or wax crayon to colour over the top.

You could also make a collect of objects from home or the garden. Have a go at

labelling the items with a price. Can you ‘buy’ items from the shop using the

coins you have looked at?

I know some of you have enjoyed finding worms and snails in the garden. Have a

go at creating your very own snail.

You can use buttons, beads, feathers, pom

poms, stickers, fingerprints, glitter, anything

you want to but it needs to be colourful! Here

are a few ideas but you can decorate it with

something different if you want to. Put your

snails on twitter or tapestry when you have

finished!

Phonics – Wednesday

You have done so well learning new sounds.

You should now know s,a,t,p,i,n. Can you colour

the correct initial sound for these pictures.

Say the words first then try and found the

sound you hear.

Wednesday – Literacy

Today I would love you to practice printing with different fruit and vegetables.

Think about what they look and feel like. What patterns do they leave behind on

the paper?

Challenge: Can you use the printing

to create a picture? Or Add scales

to a fish.

I can’t wait to see your pictures on

tapestry.

These scales were made from celery.

These are made with

potato prints.

Wednesday – Maths

‘I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll mix your numbers up!’

Write the numbers from 0 to 5 or 0 to 10 on pieces of paper and cut up.

Spread the numbers out on the carpet and blow (like the Wolf) to mix all the

numbers up.

How quickly can you put the numbers in order in a number line?

Can you count on and back along your number line?

Remember to send us your photos! Have fun!

Today on your walk I want you to have a look

out for different flowers. Can you spot these?

Bluebells Buttercups

Daffodils Daisy

Dandelion Dandelion

Pansies Tulip

Phonics - Thursday

Today we are going to play a game.

Roll a dice, count the dots and move the same

number of spaces. Say the sound you land on.

I wonder who will be first to reach the end.

Challenge: Can you think of a word that begins

with the same sound?

Thursday – Literacy

Thinking about the vegetables in the story I want you to ask people at home and

people you might speak to over the phone which one would be their favourite

vegetable.

Draw a smiley face next to the vegetable. I wonder which one will be the most

popular. Don’t forget to let us know on tapestry.

Thursday –Maths

SKITTLE CHALLENGE

Can you make your own bowling alley? Stand 10 bottles / cardboard tubes / etc

as skittles in rows.

Roll or gently throw a small ball at the skittles and see how many you knock over!

Count how many skittles are left.

This game could be played outside too with objects found in your garden!

You can change the number of skittles for your child’s ability.

We would love to see your photos and videos! Have fun!

Play a game of snakes and ladders. I wonder

who will win? Remember to roll the dice and

count the number of dots to know how many

places you can move.

Friday – Phonics

Play a game of I spy with an adult.

Friday – Literacy

Have a look at these pictures below and cut them up. Can you sort them into the

correct place on the next page? Which ones are fruit and which ones are

vegetables?

What is your favourite fruit?

Friday – Maths

Provide your child with two plates / pans / plant pots / bags. If you have any

potatoes that your child could use that would be great but you could use other

objects to represent potatoes (balls, counters, stones, Play Doh etc (or other

vegetables!}

Ask your child to count out 4 potatoes. Explain that Oliver and his Grandpa want

to share the potatoes equally. Can they share the potatoes between the two

plates so each plate has the same amount? Talk about what your child has done –

they shared 4 potatoes equally between two plates so each plate had 2 potatoes

each.

Repeat by sharing other amounts (6 potatoes, 8 potatoes, 2 potatoes, 10

potatoes).

You could extend this activity by exploring what happens when you try to share

an ‘odd amount,’ (e.g. 3, 5, 7) to show that there would be one potato left over!

Flap a fish game.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pp-8kZvm0A

Cut out a fish and decorate it. You can do this any way you like. You could paint it

or colour it.

Roll newspaper into baton shapes. You will use this to move your fish along the

floor.

Place your fish on the starting line and fan your fish to make it move. You can’t

push or touch your fish! I wonder who will get it across the line first.
