February is my "hump" month. It bridges the bleak winter into the promise of spring, the beginning of

March brings the Philadelphia Flower Show, and at the end, I hear my first Spring Peepers, telling me that warmer

weather is almost here.

Our Facebook page is up and running. It would be nice if members could post pictures with or without a

narrative. It would make our site more interesting to neophytes of the orchid world. I'm also new to managing

a Facebook page. Thank you, John DeGood, for providing an interested person with the link to our club and

info as to where and when we meet.

Hopefully, the weather will be warmer and we'll be able to bring our plants to the show table. See you

on February the 4th!

Held in Dearborn Market's 10,000 square foot

greenhouse, the Deep Cut Orchid Society Winter Show is the largest orchid show and sale in New

Jersey. It is an AOS sanctioned show and hosts many displays from orchid societies and profes-

sional growers from the area. This is the time of year when orchids are at the blooming peak and

you will see hundreds of beautiful orchids cover-ing a wide variety of orchid genera. And it's

Free!! There will be free group guided tours throughout the show, as well as information and

lectures on growing orchids. The show also in-cludes a large sales area of the growers attend-

ing the show.

It is nice to brighten up a dreary February day

with the sights and smells of beautiful and color-ful orchids. It's FREE!! Ample parking and food

on the premises.
