Narrative

I will be following the narrative theory of French literary theorist, philosopher, linguist, critic and semiotician, Ronald Barthes. He has created five codes which every narrative follows. I have chosen ‘The Hermeneutic Code (HER).

The narrative avoids telling the audience revealing all the facts. It subtly drips clues throughout the narrative to help create mystery.

Narrative and performance music video. The song is about the highs and lows of love. A series of shots will show the female protagonist laying in a field which will make the audience question who she is, what she is doing and why she is there. Throughout the music video we will be shown flashbacks of her in the relationship. The audience will be shown the artist singing throughout the song. At the end of the music video we will be someone dies but we do not know if it’s the protagonist or her killing her boyfriend.
