The Internet has made the practice of pirating the writing of others very simple.

There seems to be no limit to the amount of material on the web that you can cut and paste onto your own Word document.

However, the problem is that it is NOT your “own” work.

The following actions are considered

plagiarism….

1. Buying, stealing, or borrowing a paper.

2. Copying from another person or source without giving them credit in your

bibliography.

3. Paraphrasing (putting things into your own words) too closely to the original text

Usually the teacher will notice that the assignment is not written at the student’s level.

Plagiarism can be a very serious offense depending on the school and grade level.

•Assignments are usually given a zero

•Often the assignment must be done again - - sometimes after school

•Expulsion from the class could be a consequence at college level
