CHAMBER OF COMMERCEANNUAL BOARD MEETING
The annual meeting of the Board of Directors of the Greater Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce will be held Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at the Chamber Office at 5:30 p.m.
The Tehachapi Business Watch program, like neighborhood watch, focuses on reducing crime and fostering a working relationship between law enforcement and businesses, not only in the city but also in the county area. The Tehachapi Police Department and the Kern County Sheriff’s Department have formed a collaborative effort to reach all businesses in the Greater Tehachapi. Both departments want to foster a strong communication network with our local businesses. Businesses that take an active role will benefit from this program by gaining valuable knowledge of local crime trends, education on crime prevention and crime reporting, and will strengthen their bond with law enforcement.
There are many benefits to be obtained in these efforts, not only by businesses, but by law enforcement, which include learning about certain crimes that have occurred in the community that were not being reported, creating a forum where police can encourage businesses to be vigilant in observing and reporting crime and suspicious activities. It also gives law enforcement an opportunity to educate businesses and their employees on managing emergencies, crime prevention techniques and serving as good witnesses.
It is our goal that the businesses become an informed and aware defense against the criminal element. It is easy to sign up to be a participant in the program. To download the Survey/Registration form click here . Simply fill it out and return it to the Tehachapi Police Department. Information on ways to return it is at the bottom of the form.
Greater Tehachapi Business Watch Program
As in years past, California enacted many new laws that will affect the day-to-day operations, practices and policies of California businesses in 2015.
Some of the new laws, such as mandatory paid sick leave, make significant changes to California’s legal land-scape. Other new laws make changes to different parts of existing law or may only affect employers in specified industries.
CalChamber's free "An Overview of New 2015 Laws Affecting California Employers" white paper identifies some of the noteworthy new laws from the California Legislature, including:
• Mandatory paid sick leave, with penalties for noncompliance.
• New requirement to include training on preventing abusive conduct (such as bullying) as part of mandatory supervisor sexual harassment training.
• Expanded liability for employers who contract for labor.
• Plus, other new laws in key employment areas.

GREATER TEHACHAPI CHAMBER OF COMMERCECHAIRMAN'S CIRCLE
The Greater Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce is offering an opportunity for our members to enjoy more recognition, visibility and opportunities through our Chairman's Circle. The Chairman’s Circle offers a number of ways to market, advertise and promote your company on a regular consistent basis. The Chairman’s Circle offers four specific packages ranging from $1,000 to $7,000. It
is the Chamber’s goal to help you develop an annual package of benefits that will raise the visibility of your company in the community. By strategically planning your marketing and advertising activities in these areas, you can develop an individual campaign that will deliver bottom line benefits.
Chairman’s Circle members enjoy the convenience of a one-time all-inclusive transaction that insures representation at Chamber events, in its publications and on the Chamber’s website. This is a wonderful way to plan your budget each year. The Chairman’s Circle will not only let you plan for your sponsorships of annual events, but will also avoid those many calls individuals receive to gather support for the Chamber’s many great events.
Feel free to contact me with any questions regarding the Chairman’s Circle. I invite you to arrange a visit to discuss the benefits and privileges of membership in this special group of members who have made an annual commitment to support the Greater Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce through sponsorships and marketing opportunities. I look forward to working with you on a program to enhance your company’s recognition and visibility in our community.
