amazing dashboards with

no programming

required.

We will explore a couple already

designed Dashboards

We will create

6 Dashboards

in 30 minutes.

We’ll talk about how this is all put together.

What do we mean by “Gadget?”

Pie Gadgets

Repeated for comparison…

Let’s change a Gadget’s

preferences

Click anywhere in this area.

A border now appears around

the Gadget with a toolbar.

Click the Preferences ( √ )

button

Let’s change a Gadget’s

preferences

Click the Time Range filter

Gadget preferences panel

Choose Last 5 Quarters

Click Save.

The entire Dashboard updates.

Saving preferences (with Broadcast)

This preference will be

remembered

Let’s switch Dashboards…

Click the Dashboard’s

Unlock button

In the Today Page dropdown…

ChooseMetric Flex Mix – 07

Another Dashboard

Click the tree folders to expand them.

Choose Measure Filters

Click COGS, Margins,& Profit

Real-time Broadcast…

The filters are applied to the Gadgets, in order.

OK – let’s start!Dashboard 1.

Start Dashboard Designer.

Click the Edit (pencil) button

The Dashboard Designer opens in place.

Remove the Tag Cloud too. Click the Catalog.

And the tree.

Remove some Gadgets.

Click the Gadget and then click the X (remove)

button.

Scroll the Catalog and click & drag Flex –

Metrics Actual Bars (about ¼ way down)…

… and drop it here.Add some Gadgets.

Now drag another Flex – Metrics Actual Bars

on, and resize it.

Resize the Gadget by clicking the resize

handle

Resize & add the same Gadgets.

Close the Catalog.

Move some Gadgets around.

Hold down Ctrl key, multi-click, then drag to

move these Pie Gadgets…

Click Live

We didn’t have to pick Measures for these.

PMF figured it out for us.

Go Live.

Click Save As.

Click Design

Type A Dashboard - 01 and click Save.

Save the Dashboard.

OK…Time for Dashboard 2.

Click New.

Need a brand-new Dashboard.

Type Gauge. Hit Enter.

Let’s add some Gauges.

But… There’s a lot of Gadgets here…

Just Gauges appear here now!

Drag three Gauges into the canvas.

Notice how the lines turn Green when everything

is aligned.

Now add some Gauges to the

canvas.

Notice how the Catalog fades so you can see the

canvas.

Click the X button.The Catalog is all full again!

Click & drag Flex – Metrics Pct-Rchd Line

Clearing the Catalog Search.

Click Live.Size it…

Finish up, go Live.

PMF picks the defaults but you can change

them for everyone using Preferences.

Click Design.

Click Broadcast.

Let’s configure Broadcast for the

Dashboard.

Click all the Gadgets one time.

Change the dropdown to

Dimensions only.

Click Set.Broadcast only

Dimensions.

Click Live. Click a Gadget & click its Preferences ( √ ) button.

Live Broadcast.

Select Location. Select EAST

Click Preview.

Dimension filter is broadcast to all Gadgets!

Now click Design.Click Save.Name it: A Dashboard – 02.Click Save.Click New.

Let’s finish up the second Dashboard.

It’s Dashboard 3 Time!

For this New Dashboard, let’s

Two Pies: Flex Metric Share of Actual Pie

Two Line over Bars: Flex Metric Actual Line Over

Target Pct-Rchd Bar

Configure Broadcast & add a

Broadcast Controller:

Configure Broadcast for the Pies and Lines,

Metrics only.

Add a Utility – Measure Tree

Go Live.

In the Tree, click Profit and Sales.

Automatic Grouping of like Gadgets!

Click Design.Click Save. Name it: A Dashboard – 03.Click Save.Click New.

Let’s finish up the third Dashboard.

It’s Dashboard 4 Time!(starting to see a pattern here?)

No. Dashboard Designer is not a Flex tool.Any Web accessible content can be in a Gadget and thus

displayed on a Dashboard. For example:

Set Broadcast to Dimensions only.

Try changing properties for one of the Charts – change the Time Range to Last 25 Months…

Click Measures.

You can create a Measure from a

Template.

Click Std Metrics.

There are lots of categories of

measure templates.

Click Financial.

The Financial Metrics Templates…

Click EBITDA.

“earnings before

interest, tax, depreciation

and amortization.”Click Import.

The template is now imported into

memory.

Make this say “TO”

Click the Slider button.

These properties define a Metric to

PMF. That’s how it knows

so much!

Click Accept.Adjust Tolerances

for the metric…

Drag Threshold to 10%.

Drag Flex to 2%.

If you need to, use the scrollbar to bring the lines into view.

The tolerances are now adjusted.

Click Next >>.Change Display

Format to D12.2M

Click Entry Formulas tab.

Adjust capture frequency…

Change to Quarter

Change to Region

Do NOT click Next.

Click Edit

This complex formula was

imported from the template.

Click Cancel.

Click Next >>.

If you type in the

components…

PMF generates the capture sheet. All your users with access to enter this measure can now get this online.
