Welcomefrom the Chairman
Dear friends,
A very warm welcome and mythanks for your participation at thisvery special event, Banana IndustryCongress 2013.
This is our tenthCongress, and my firstas Chairman of theAustralian Banana Growers'
Council (ABGC).
I continue to beimpressed by the
enthusiasm of those in ourindustry and I know how muchall of you have been lookingforward to the 2013 Congress.
An exceptional program of sessionsand networking events has been assembledfor our time together.
Our theme this year is Sustaining theComplete Package. It's all about how bananasare, and can continue to be, the "completepackage" for growers, industry partners,
consumers and our communities and regional economies. Weare proud to be a leading horticulture industry producingAustralia’s number-one selling fruit.
Our industry faces many challenges and issues which we willdiscuss during three days of sessions examining marketingand supply chain, farm practices and plant health, andindustry innovation.
It’s timely for us to look at these challenges and issues and ouraspirations for the future - and also to make the most of ournetworking and social activities.
I know we will all make the most of this event. The Congress isrenowned for the value it adds to the banana industry and I’msure we will continue a fine tradition!
Best regards,Doug Phillips
ABGC Chairman
