His talent in design can be said started back in his childhood where he loves to draw everytime he got time.Right after high school, he chose to further his study in Interior Design.

During his internship in Steven Leach & asscociates, the management has seen his potential to develop himself as an Interior Designer. He was offered a job at Steven Leach after he graduated from Universiti Teknologi Mara.

In the firm, he was given chances to progress as an interior designer from the basic foundation up until now, where he is capable to handling his own design projects.

Biography

With the new management team head-ing Maxis now, the whole brand and look of Maxis entity are now being re-vamp. Maxis have called up Steven Leach among few other competitors to do the design pitches for their new office design.

After about two months of design pitch stage, the job have been awarded to Steven Leach with Zahir as the lead designer.

The design brief for the new office are including to create an open office lay-out and bring the elements of fun but yet still gving a corporate looks of Maxis

As the country biggest Tel-Co company, Maxis would like to have a better pres-ence in the eyes of the other countries people. So they decided to build their ex-clusive centre at the boarding terminal.

This centre are focusing to estab-lished the brand awareness among the people from other countries and also to help traveller to ease their com-munication solutions while travelling.

The Garden is one of the Maxis main service centre. They commissioned Steven Leach to re-vamp the previous centre to create much bigger and brighter ambiance.

The brand essence are incorporat-ed into the retail design to bring in the Maxis flavor and identity as the Malaysia’s biggest Tel-Co provider.

Maxis Enterprise Showcase is the place for Maxis to exhibit their capabili-ties and solutions for enterprise sector.

The layout and the design is looking seamlessly transit and flowing smooth-ly to exhibit the products of Maxis. the interactive elements also helps the space to become more flexible for do-ing the showcase to the customers.

One of his key client since year 2007. At the very early years, his involvement is assisting the senior designer on the design process such as documentation and material selections.

Right after that, he was given responsibilty to handle the projects from schematic process right after work at site completed and also managing the client. About more than 30,000 sq.ft. area have been completed since then.

Deloitte KassimChan is moving their HQ from Damansara Utama to the new HQ in Menara LGB, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail.

Consists of 8 floors of offices with 1 on the floor is the reception and meeting suites.

The design solutions given are pretty much simple yet reflecting their profes-sional attitude as a one of the big four firms.

Brand colours are applied almost every-where in a subtle approach but still giving a little injections of fun in the whole ambiance.

China Pacific Insurance Group is one of the biggest insurance service provider in China.

Zahir has lead the concept proposal togeth-er with SL+A Shanghai office for this pitch.

The brief was to create a bold and brand centric design, where Zahir trans-lates into by using their brand colour as one of the prominent elements.

Elements of traditional and modern was care-fully crafted together to create more welcom-ing design and yet looking modern and bold.

Next by Hong Leong is a new banking concept from Hong Leong. They’re tar-geting Gen Y as their main target market .

So for this pitch, the brief was to cre-ate a totally different kind of bank-ing experiences that suites to Gen Y.

The concept proposed was to create a much more less conventional layout where the customers will have new experiences while doing transaction or getting the info.

Lots of interactives elements have been intro-duces to create more fun ambiance and more engaging bank that will attract Generation Y.

Citibank Ubiquity is very different and unique from any other banks in Malay-sia. They have intergrated the fast services and also the user oriented service in the branch. The state of the art techology also have been implemented in this particu-lar branch where the customer can see, touch or explore the Citibank through numbers of touchscreen and media walls.

In this project, Zahir was the lead de-signer for the implementations works. He’s working with many other parties such as the concept designer for this branch, 8inc and also the regional par-ties to make sure that the implementa-tions are as per the guidelines provided.

In conjunction with the new concept of Citibank Ubiquity, they intended not limiting the customer experienced in their premises only, but also to get close to the potential customer by setting up few kiosks at strategic and well known shop-ping malls like Pavillion, The Curve, Mid Valley and also Sunway Pyramid.

This kiosk was design in a way that can be dismantling and to be relocate to the new location every 6 months.

As one of the top insurance service provider in Malaysia, PRUDENTIAL vi-sion and missions are need to be in line with their interior branding. Therefore, the brief was to revamp their interior scheme for Customer Service Centre.

The brief was to create an interior that reflects PRUDENTIAL strong brand essence and yet to give a little injection of the warmth of hospitality.

Zahir brought up the brave red color as the brand identity for the branch and to introduce a little bit of earth tone materials to bring the sense of warmth and hospitality.

A new branch for Hong Leong Islamic Bank. The brief was to create a different looks from their parent’s bank, Hong Leong Bank. But, in the mean times, the bank still needs to car-ry the Hong Leong Bank’s brand

A lots of elements was to use back their own identity that they called “ A tree of life” that is reflects some of Islamic symbolic.

Zahir was responsible to bring up this new look and concept for this bank from the proposal stage up until completion.

Alliance bank is one of the bank insittu-tion in Malaysia. The competition in the fi-nancial industries is quite high in Malaysia.So that the branding and the looks for the bank must be bold enough to give the confidence to the customer.

This project was started as a design pitch. Zahir was the designer in charge to lead the new concept and looks both for the con-ventional banking and also private banking.Zahir ‘s design approach for the bank was to take advantage of the boldness of Alliance Bank’s color which is Blue and Red accent. But to move away from the coldness of blue, he was introduced a bit of tim-ber element to warm up the space.

150 000 sq.ft area consisting of about 21 floors. This is the new headquarters for Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia

For this particular project, Zahir was assigned to be designer on site for about 8 months in daily basis. His task was mainly to oversee and co-ordinant-ing the implementation works between many parties such as main contractor, M&E contractor and other consultants.

His tasks was crucial as he needs to co-ordinates a lots of trades in the con-struction and to tackles any problem arise at site immediately

The BlackGrid was the name given for this coffee table. A design competition that was organized by Steven Leach and associates, Kuala Lumpur. The compettion was held to find a signature furnture for Steven Leach Kuala Lum-pur. This table have won the first runner up.

The concept of the table was come from the very basic principles of design, which is gridline.

The Movflo chair was designed to suit his fi-nal year project which is Petronas Formula 1 Gallery. the concept of the chair was to re-flect the fast movements from the Formula 1 race. therefore he was introducing the ele-ments of lines to define the concept of mov-ing and flowing.

MOVFLO CHAIR

A competition that was organized by the Steven Leach. Staffs across different re-gional was submitted their submission and the winning design will be printed as official Xmas card for Steven Leach Group.

Zahir was won the Grand Prize and received USD600 as the prize and also co-ordinating the printing of the cards for distributions to other regional offices.

In conjunction with the new developed transportation system, Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit, a competition to design a logo was held to choose the official logo for the MRT system.

Zahir was designing a bold and simple logo. The red, blue and white was choosen as the main colour to represent the Malaysian identity. While the dashed and dot element to represent the train system.

Zahir was won the first runner up and re-ceived USD200 as the prize. The first place was won by the designer from Bangkok Of-fice.
