STATEMENT OF PURPOSE OF THE PORTFOLIO
Education should be about helping children discover their individual voice. Helping young
people to find the best means to express themselves, and ensuring that they have the education to
know what it is they want to express. Education is about creating a sense of social and
community responsibility. Schools have the potential to have a vision., as the members of our
society we must have the capacity for collaboration, empathy, sympathy and selflessness.
Education is about fostering a love of learning, Schools which are true learning communities are
wonderful, vibrant and exciting places to be.
In its broadest sense, teaching is a process that facilitates learning. Teaching is the specialized
application of knowledge, skills and attributes designed to provide unique service to meet the
educational needs of the individual and of society. The choice of learning activities whereby the
goals of education are realized in the school is the responsibility of the teaching profession.
In addition to providing students with learning opportunities to meet curriculum outcomes,
teaching emphasizes the development of values and guides students in their social relationships.
Teachers employ practices that develop positive self-concept in students. Although the work of
teachers typically takes place in a classroom setting, the direct interaction between teacher and
student is the single most important element in teaching.
The purpose of a teaching portfolio is to document a pre-service teacher’s teaching activities,
effectiveness and impact. The purpose of this portfolio is also to display my current views of
teaching and to reflect upon my pre-service teaching experiences. Here are the objectives that a
pre-service teacher. Detailed through the portfolio are depictions of my development as a

for the understanding and compassionate teachers, for the supportive principal and for this

Bless us all as we are about to deal a new lesson, new knowledge to inculcate, new experiences
to embrace, new ideas to share, new values to feed our morale, new output of our painstaking
labor to fulfill our satisfaction, new opinions to open up with others, new camaraderie to develop
and a lot more that we are humbly asking from your most benevolent heart that grant simple
requests into a sure reality.
Lord, Bless all schools especially Cielito Zamora High School that it may dynamically and
competitively become a center for sound learning, new discovery, and the pursuit of wisdom;
and grant that those who teach and those learn may find you to be the source of all truth and
wisdom.
Lord, we ask forgiveness for all the sins that we have committed and we are sincerely accepting
your Holy Spirit to rule our hearts and minds so that we can avoid the temptations and some
forms of evil as we continue fulfilling our roles in this beautiful world as children of God. We
ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy
Spirit, one God, forever and ever Amen.

A TEACHER'S CREED
I believe I have been called by God to teach.
I believe in children...young and old...black and white...rich and poor....each in need of
learning.
I believe in blackboards, chalk dust, textbooks, and computers for each has a part in
imparting knowledge.
I believe the love I give to my students will someday be reflected in their lives.
I believe the gift of teaching is not measured simply by marks, enrollment, or the end of
the school year.
It is in the witness I give and the fullness of the life lived by those I teach.
I believe I have the power to lead those in need of learning to the threshold of their own
minds.
I believe in my giftedness to use each of the tools available no matter how new or old..for
the light of knowledge in the eyes of another is my goal.
I believe teaching is more than tests, diplomas, paperwork, and fundraising.
It is the values I breathe daily into another...slowly.
It is in the faith I share in Jesus...ever changing and growing...never ending.
I believe my success today goes unnoticed...until those I teach and touch can stand alone
and say "in my life I have learned..."
I believe if I have taught and touched one person...in God's name...I have used my gift to
me justly..and can humbly say...
I believe in teaching....
I AM A TEACHER!!

Personal Education Philosophy
Teaching is the most rewarding aspect of my career and of my identity as a student teacher.
Without a doubt, I consider the success I have enjoyed in the classroom to be my single greatest
contribution to the school. Teaching energizes me and I strive to share my love of teaching and
of my discipline with my students. If they see that I am enthused, it makes them more likely to
be enthused as well. I take it as a given that I need to show them why they should care about
learning. I also strongly believe that effective teaching involves a collaborative and relationship
between the students and teacher. I have high expectations for myself and my students.
I chose education as my career path because I hope to be able to make a small difference in a
child’s life. Time and time again I have seen children being educated poorly and/or not having
appropriate role models in their life. I feel that an educator must not only be able to convey to the
student the classroom material, but also be a counselor, coach, mentor, and a parent. Failing to
fulfill these roles gives a child the chance to slip through the educational system without having
the opportunity to influence them to some degree.
My personal goal for my future classroom is to challenge students and watch them grow to their
full potential. I want to take students at different levels and see them develop together for the
betterment of each individual. Therefore, group work is the key to having a successful class and
is something I value, especially with older students. The impact of group work, when students
help fellow students, changes each person and transforms the atmosphere of the class as a whole.
In my classroom, I want students to have freedom that allows for expression and creativity.
Students should be able to experiment with likes and dislikes and to realize their strengths and
weaknesses. After this base is developed, the curriculum can be molded to tie in each student’s
learning style.
As a future educator, it is critical to remember to enjoy students and everything they have to
offer. Sometimes it can be a struggle, but if something goes wrong, there is always a way to fix
the problem. No matter what, there is always the power to make change. In my view, there is no
one "best" way to teach. My philosophy and pedagogy fit well with my ownpersonal traits and
attributes but I still have much to learn.

PERSONAL INSIGHT ON THE PRE-SERVICE TRAINING EXPERIENCE
Cielito Zamora High School has a very unique strategy. The way they care for their students was
very overwhelming. They show their love for their students by hugging them and greeting them
inside and outside the four corners of the classroom. Their greeting was not the usual “Good
morning”, “good afternoon”, “good evening” and “good day” their greeting goes like this: “TKM
morning”, “TKM afternoon” and “TKM evening”. TKM stands for T-alino K-akayahan M-
alasakit. Because they believe that every student is very intelligent and very unique in their own
ways, all the teachers need to do is to bring out the best and that potential in every students.
They believe that all students has abilities and potentials and they also believe that they need to
show that they care for their students and believe in their potentials.
On my first days of being a student teacher, it was very difficult for me to adapt to changes. I
felt very nervous when I first stand in front and facing the class. My co-teacher, Mr. Terzo P.
Duqueza decided to introduce myself from the class and the worst part is I am not prepared with
my speech. I don’t know what I am going to say. But because of nervousness, my adrenaline
arose then after that I see myself speaking something about the classroom regulations and some
information about me. I also feel the same thing when I discuss my first lesson to them. But as
days goes by, I feel comfortable speaking, discussing and teaching them the lessons that they
need to know and understand. After a month, I get in touch with my students. Then something
strikes in my mind; they teach me something that makes my heart melt and it made me realize of
something, “Teaching is not just a profession because teaching is a passion” I already know this
quote before but because of them I feel it. You will not enjoy something if you do not have the
interest on it meaning if you do not love the students and accept them for who they are and if you
don’t have interests on the works of a teacher, you will end up and see yourself stress and very
tired on what you are doing. Being a teacher, your job is not just to teach them the knowledge of
this world but your task is to inspire them and motivate them when they feel they are down, you
need to unleash their potentials and believe in their abilities, you need to care and love them and
not to make them fear you. As a teacher, you have the capacity to be an instrument for their lives
to change and to transform. Every student doesn’t need to have the most intelligent teacher what
they need is a teacher that loves and has a heart for them. Therefore as a future educator, we
must be very careful on what are we going to tell them. We must speak of blessings and
18
encouragements to them and not curses to them. We were once a student and a child therefore
we must understand their behavior and their needs. We as teachers have the capacity to
influence our students and we don’t know how powerful our influence can be. In order to be
respected by our students, we should learn how to respect them. The school is their second home
and we are their second parents they need the same care that they receive from their families and
friends. We are their light and path walk for their success. They need guidance and advises
from us.
