The project locates in mid-east of Shanghai, China. Shanghai has large aging population which brings increasing recognition of healthcare. Due to the shortage of physicians, staff eff iciency becomes important consideration. Two metro rail lines cross the site, bringing patients from both center city and sub-urban areas.

The central garden provides the major recreational space and view in the project. It is divided into upper and lower parts by a water fall. the upper garden has pool and trees, imitating the real nature. The sunken garden, paved with pebbles, provide light and accessable outdoor space for the underdround building.

Access to natural light and views of nature has been shown to reduce the length of stay for a patient and their need for pain medicat ion fo l lowing surgery.
Atrium spaces, art works, signs and pavements contribute to wayfinding f o r bo th s ta f f s and pa t i en t s

INPATIENT ANALYSIS
Based on the code requirement and consideration of efficiency, I create a prototype with a combination of single-loaded and double-loaded plans. I also developed a Revit API program to help caculate the travel distances in three schemes under the prototype. After looking at the data, the fourth scheme was generated taking advantage of different parts of the first three schemes. Typical Inpatient Floor Plan
HermiteSpline spline = doc.Application.Create.NewHermiteSpline(points, false);
Plane plane = app.Create.NewPlane(new XYZ(0, 0, -1), new XYZ(0, 0, 0));
SketchPlane skplane = doc.Create.NewSketchPlane(plane);
doc.Create.NewModelCurve(spline, skplane);
double routelength = spline.Length;

CONSIDERING
1. Fast traffics and historical residential areas on the boundary conflict with each other.
2.The scattered scenic spots f a i l e d t o a t t r a c t t o u r i s t s individually.
We introduce cycling as an in-between life style to reconsile the conflict and to connect tourist attractions inside/outside the city wall as a whole travelling network.
