POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVE

POSSESSIVE –indica algo que pertence a alguém.

ADJECTIVE- palavras que expressam qualidades. No Inglês geralmente vem antes do sujeito da frase ou de um substantivo.

ADJECTIVES EXAMPLES

Is this his car? (HIS)

I love my new book.(MY)

Rufus is their dog´s name.(THEIR)

Cada Personal Pronoun tem um Possessive Adjective correspondente.

She- her We- our You-your

They-their

EXAMPLES

My favorite CD is Aquarelas Brasileiras.

Was Marisa her friend? He went to their party last weekend.

Um Possessive Adjective pode aparecer após estas expressões :

All; Both; Half; Quantifier + of.

Examples

All my money I will send to charity. Some of my buddies came here last

night.

PAY ATTENTION!

The house belongs to John and Janet. It´s their house.

OR The house belongs top John and

Janet. It´s THEIRS.

I read my book and you read your book.

OR I read my book and you read YOURS

THEIR e YOURS são possessive pronouns.

THEIR e YOURS podem substituir HOUSE e BOOK, evitando a repetição.

She- hers We- ours You-yours

They-theirs

CUIDADO COM O CONTEXTO!

ITS é um possessive pronoun, mas IT'S é uma abreviação de it is ou it has.

HIS pode ser tanto um possessive adjective como um possessive pronoun.
