The Best Ways to Help Your Kindergartener Succeed in School

Make sure your child is ready for school

• Has a decent bed time• Has everything needed for school/ all

materials labeled• Wears proper clothes

Some things your child should know..

• Patience• How to follow directions• To ask for help when needed• How to clean up after self

Make the BIG day a happy one!

Encourage responsibility and independence

• Develop homework routine• Have them pick up own mess• Have them play an active role in

getting ready for school

Treat child as though they are an author

• Encourage child to write notes or keep a journal

• Provide materials along with time for child to draw

• Always ask child about their drawings

Make math part of their everyday life

Support your child's teacher and school rules

• Make appointments to visit with teacher

• Always be willing to listen to the teachers side
