How to present your data!
All your work should be presented in the plastic folder I have given out.
Presenting your data! You need to decide how to present the
information you have collected on the fieldtrip! You should all have a table of data that looks
something like this! This will be handed in as part of your final research project.
Site A Site B Site C Site D
School car park.
Paramata Beach
Whitby walkway
The Canopies
Temp 14 degree C 12 degrees C
Wind Speed 0.4m/s
Cloud Cover 4/8
Surface tarmac
Height 25m above sea level.
You need the following things
Table of results.Map showing location of sites where information
was collected.Graphs (at least two) showing the information
you collected.Annotated (labelled) photographs of each area.Things you could include; maps which show the temperature/wind speed
taken at each location.Sketches highlighting the main features of each
location.Any other useful method of presenting the data.
A Map to show the location where data was collected.
Site A – Paramata Beach.
Site B – The Canopies (CBD)
Site C - Aotea Lagoon
N
Scale 1cm = 1km
You need to explain why you chose these sites.
“I chose a variety of sites that were located across the city. These are shown on map …. Site B is located directly in the CBD and surrounded by buildings with very little greenery. Site C is located approximately 2km from the CBD and is surrounded by grass and trees. Site D is located further out again and is surrounded by water. Site A is located on the top of a hill approximately 50m above sea level and is very exposed so provides a good contrast to the other sites.”
Choose the most appropriate graph for the data you collected.

Photo of Site C – Aotea Lagoon
Area is reasonably sheltered. Surrounded on one side by houses
and trees.Lagoon is a large area of fairly shallow water.
Area is fairly low lying and bordered on one side by the SH1 and Porirua harbour.
Each graph/table/photo needs to be written about!
The graph above shows the temperature in each location. As you can see the warmest places we observed were in Paramata Beach and the Canopies. The Canopies was fairly sheltered as it is surrounded on three sides by buildings so the area was sheltered from the wind.Paramata Beach is out of the direct coastal wind and the water may have also had a warming effect.
Sketch maps/sketches of photos
Be creative!Just make sure each graph, map and photo is correctly labelled.
