Modifying data to comply with local laws is a common request and
would benefit from having a standard approach. User and Department
tables can contain redactions options, with default value of “do
nothing”.
Possible actions include: • Nothing (default) – do not change any
data • Mask – display a mask character in fields such file name
(original data is retained) • Overwrite – permanently overwrite
data in specified fields (original data is lost) • Substitute –
replace user name or department name with another value
What is an OLAP Cube?
• “An SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) cube is a
multidimensional
database that is optimized for data warehouse and online
analytical
processing (OLAP) applications. A cube is a method of storing data
in a
multidimensional form, generally for reporting purposes. With
cubes, data is
categorized by dimensions. Cubes are often pre-summarized
across
dimensions to drastically improve query time over relational
databases.”
• “An OLAP cube is a data structure that overcomes the limitations
of relational
databases by providing rapid analysis of data. Cubes can display
and sum
large amounts of data while also providing users with searchable
access to
any data points. This way, the data can be rolled up, sliced, and
diced as
needed to handle the widest variety of questions that are relevant
to a
user’s area of interest.”
OLAP Cube Example
Leverage OLAP “Cube” Technology
• Creates an abstract layer between the data warehouse and the user
that makes it easier for users to query data
• Lets customers easily and quickly create custom reports using a
variety of third-party tools, including Excel PowerPivot
• Enables ‘Data Analytics’ • Supports multi-dimensional analysis –
slice, dice, drill-down
and roll-up data
• Greatly improves performance

LRS Mobile Printing Enhancements
Leverage iBeacon technology for better user experience and improved
security for mobile print release
What is iBeacon?
• iBeacon is a protocol developed by Apple and introduced at the
Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in 2x13
• Various vendors make iBeacon-compatible hardware transmitters,
commonly called “beacons”
• Beacons use Bluetooth low-energy “proximity sensing” to transmit
a unique identifier that is picked up by an application
Use Case Example – Retail
Why Use iBeacon Technology?
• Provide a better “user experience” for mobile printing • For
example, “Where are nearby print devices that can print
color, duplex and staple my documents?”
• Leverage floor plans defined in the VPSX Printer Portal to
graphically show relative distance between user and nearby
devices
• Improve security by ensuring users are “at the device” before
documents can be released for printing
• Provide a lower-cost, alternative pull-printing solution
How LRS Leverages iBeacon Technology
• Associate a beacon with a specific VPSX printer queue
• VPSX Print apps dynamically determine nearby printers • Beacon
signal strength correlates to relative distance
• Shows interactively on floor plan view using blue circle
• Users can define a relative distance in the app to search
in
• IT administrators define approximate proximity distance for
release
• Ensure users release print jobs at the device
• Improves security of mobile print release function

Adding a Scan Workflow solution to the LRS product portfolio
Introduction to Drivve
• Small software provider that provides specialized
document-related solutions
• Flagship product is “Drivve Image”, a scan workflow
solution
• Scan -> Capture/Process -> Store -> Anywhere
How Does Drivve Help LRS?
• Provides solution for creating, deploying and managing scan
workflows from MFPs and other sources of digital (image) data
• Deliver solutions that optimize the entire document lifecycle,
from image capture and processing, to workflows and document
management, to print/output management, and everything in
between
• Expands LRS value proposition to “print and scan” • Automate and
improve business process workflows
What is a Scan Workflow?
• Comprised of three major steps:
1. Interaction with user to select options and/or enter information
at the MFP display panel
2. Processing and conversion of the scanned documents
• For example, OCR, convert to searchable PDF, separating a stack
of paper into individual documents, etc.
3. Delivery of the document(s) to one or more specified
destinations

Product Roadmap
Support Native iOS Printing
• Simplifies printing from iOS mobile devices • No print app needs
to be installed on iOS mobile device • Can advertise printers using
bonjour services, but limited to a
single subnet
• Does not eliminate value of the “VPSX Print” app • Users can
locate printers via floor plan maps and release pull-
print jobs at the target device
• Solution works best when combined with pull printing
• Requires Apple certification process
• Target availability is 2019
Google Cloud Print - Overview
• Think of it as Google’s version of Apple AirPrint
• Google provides a way for print management solutions to integrate
with it
• Unlike AirPrint, print jobs travel first to the Google Cloud
before delivery
Support Google Cloud Print
• Develop a “software connector” for GCP
• Enables VPSX products to be a proxy server on behalf of the
target destination devices
• Register and manage printers defined in GCP for a specific
enterprise customer
• Receive notification from GCP when print jobs are available
• A transform may be required to convert PDF file to a format the
printer understands
• Target availability is 2019
Track Scan/Fax Activities at MFP
• Focus is not cost reduction, but to better understand the usage
and business value of MFP devices
• Information may also be useful for auditing purposes
• Must define additional record type(s) in Innovate/Audit and
gather information from the devices
• Lack of standardization across printer vendors increases the
development work effort
• Target GA date is not available at this time
VPSX
Outbound Encrypted Print Job
Multiple Use-Case Scenarios
• A Healthcare organization needs to deliver documents from their
on-premise Healthcare system to printers located in third-party
clinics
• A business wants to send documents from their applications to
printers in remote locations without the necessary infrastructure
to make the printer network addressable from the data center
• A business wants to send documents from their applications to
printers in their supplier’s network locations
• An organization wants their users to use their own printers at
home (BYOD) without any investment in network infrastructure
Developing Better “Affiliate Printing” Solution
• Existing solutions are challenging to implement or use: • VPSX
Windows Client requires changes in the router at the
remote location to enable port-forwarding
• PageCenterX requires too many clicks in the “view-first, then-
print” process
• Market is looking for a better solution that: • Works like a
normal print workflow, and…
• Easy to deploy and support at remote locations, and…
• Does not require special ports to be open in the firewall

Future “Affiliate Printing” Solution
• Print securely from central data centers to remote ‘affiliate’
locations with public internet connectivity
• No leased lines, router configurations or VPNs
• Leverages cloud-based notification technology
• Requires a new “LRS Client” that is an extension to the current
VPSX PDM client software
• Client will always use HTTPS to retrieve print jobs from
VPSX
• Client supports IPPS for protecting data on remote LAN
• Target availability is 2019
• User must have rights to delegate printing
• User can delegate pull-print authority of their print jobs to
another user (singular)
• Groups will not be supported in initial release
• Delegation must be in place before print submission
• Both the submitting user and the delegated-to-person can retrieve
print jobs
• Target GA is 1H 2019
Developing Plan for VPSX R3
• New release enables LRS to begin “end of support” process for
R1
• List of functional enhancements is not complete, but it will
include:
• Support for IPv6
• Encryption at rest (might come before R3 release)
• Target timeframe is 1H 2019
