1. Introduction This report gives an update on the current status of PRoFouND Deliverable D7.5: ‘Report on final ICT network meeting’: [month 36]. The delivery of D7.5 builds upon the launch of the OIF at the inaugural European Falls Festival (EUFF) held in Stuttgart on 24-25th March 2015 as detailed in D7.3 and the networking events which have taken place since then outlined in D7.4. These events were used to showcase the work of ProFouND WP7 and the Online Innovation Factory (OIF) platform which was developed as part of Deliverable 7.1, together with Deliverable 7.2: ‘Promotion of at least one falls prevention reference site, project or technology’.

The second European Falls Festival (EUFF) held in Bologna on 23rd and 24th February 2016 was the vehicle for the final ICT network meeting. In collaboration with other networks, especially E-NO FALLS, we presented the ICT partnerships and networking which WP7 has undertaken and the ICT tools we have developed – notably the OIF which is one of the project´s main dissemination tools and is part of the PRoFouND website http://profound.eu.com/ forums/forum/ innovation-factory/

2. Final OIF Promotion & ICT Networking event

The OIF, its functionality and the promotion of best practice reference sites, was introduced and promoted to a range of stakeholders at the European Falls Festival 2016 in Bologna Working in partnership with the ProFouND, the ENOFALLS consortium and the European Innovation Partnership, Active and Health Aging Action Group A2.

The role of Work Package 7 and the ECHAlliance in ProFouND was presented in the poster session at the European Falls Festival 2016.

The Festival Programme is at Annex A and the list of delegates is at Annex B.

4

2a. Role of Work Package 7

The role of WP7 was presented, setting out the phases of development of the On-Line Innovation Factory (OIF), the challenges encountered and how they were addressed, the impact of the Work Package and future plans.

Phases of Development

Phase One: Assessment of Requirements. We reviewed existing collaboration platforms and analysed what elements were missing. This was presented at the first collaborative conference between PRoFouND and E-NOFALLS in Vilanova in Feb 2014 and eHealth week in Athens, Jun 2014. Feedback from the international audience of health and social care, academia and industry informed the initial development and design of OIF.

Phase Two: Development and Integration with E-NOFALLS ICT Forum. The OIF platform was “soft launched” in Feb 2015 to PRoFouND and E-NOFALLS partners and members of EIP AHA A2 Action Group

Phase Three: Implementation. Partners populated the OIF with initial content including the promotion of four reference sites which have been designated in the European Innovation Partnership Active & Healthy Ageing (EIP-AHA) report ‘Reference Sites: Excellent innovation for ageing - European Guide’ and in the ICT-AGE project report ‘Mapping of Effective Technology-

based Services for Independent Living for Older People at Home’ as beacons of good practice in using technology to prevent and monitor falls.

The reference sites promoted on the OIF are:

• PROFITER Prevention of falls initiative inEmilia-Romagna Contact: Lorenzo Chiari lorenzo.chiari@unibo.it

• T4H (Technology and Human Help at Home after Hospitalisation)

Contact: Prof. Francois Piette francois.piette@cfx.ap-hop-paris.fr • Departamento de Salud Valencia-La Fe.

More information http://www.lafe.san.gva.es/departamento-de-saludvalencia-la-fe • Home Automation and Telecare programme, Corrèze Department, France.

Contact lachal.florent@gmail.com University of Limoges

5

The OIF was launched publicly in Mar 2015 and currently contains eleven open topics including :

• Monitoring older citizens@risk for optimal interventions

• Quantitative assessment of falls risk and frailty • Affordable fall detection equipment/ portable

equipment • Alone after a fall

Challenges to Implementation

The poster session highlighted the challenges encountered to implementation of the OIF. Stakeholders are enthusiastic to share experience in face-to face meetings and discussions but can be reluctant to put up their challenges and experiences directly on the OIF. To address this issue, we have found that input gathered in face to face discussions or by email way can be used to populate the site and generate sharing of experience.

Future Plans

A joint webinar, being organized with EIP AHA Action Group 2 and E-NOFALLS, is planned for May 2016.

2b. ECHAlliance

The ECHAlliance International Coordinator attended the EUFF and presented the poster on the ECHAlliance’s work in Profound setting out its role as a pan European ‘connector’, whose Ecosystem network brings together, across more

than 25 Ecosystems in Europe, the USA, Canada & China, a community of stakeholders interested transforming the delivery of health & social care through the use and deployment of digital, mobile, and wireless technology.

The main role of the ECHAlliance has been to bring together stakeholders in networking events to encourage partnerships between stakeholders

A challenge to implementation has been maintaining the continued engagement of members of ECHAlliance in the technology for falls prevention agenda. This has been addressed through a series of high profile events.

The OIF has been promoted as a valuable resource for falls professionals across academia, industry, and the healthcare and public sector at events including the e-Health Week in Athens in

6

2014, at the first European Falls Festival in Stuttgart Mar 2015 (Deliverable D7.3) and to ECHAlliance partners and stakeholder communities at International Connected Health Ecosystems meetings in Nice in Sep 2015, Valencia in Nov 2015 and Manchester in Jan 2016 (Deliverable D7.4)

3. Partnership Working The project has stimulated partnership: a. Partnership between the ProFouND and the E -NO Falls Thematic Networks to develop complementary

offering s around technology for the prevention and prediction and monitoring of falls in the elderly and to ensure that these offering are linked to enable members and contibutors to either site to have access to a wider range of options than either site could offer alone. The ProFouND OIF and the ICT repository cross-reference each other in their websites.

7

b. Partnership with the EIP AHA Action Group A2 on Falls. ECHAlliance has taken a role as lead for Deliverable D4.4 of the A2 Action Plan

c. Partnership with EIP AHA Action Group A2 to identify national and local partnership networks where the use of technology has been identified as part of the best practice for falls and promoting these reference site through the OIF.

d. Partnership with EIP AHA Action Group A2 to embed the work of ProFouND in the Action Groups future plans. WP7 is working with the EIP AHA A2 Action group in conjunction with E-NO Falls to develop a webinar in order to engage further with interested parties. The webinar was originally planned to take place in February during the life of the ProFouND project but has been deferred until May at the request of the EIP AHA Action Groups A2 to follow the call for Reference Sites of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing which is open until mid-April 2016.

The webinar will consist of presentations from a broad range of partners to ensure maximum interest across the Action Group. Currently the planned agenda consists of:

• dedicated E-NO Falls and OIF presentations • business models / funding possibilities for new technologies development and deployment • round table of ‘reference sites’ to share their experience in technology deployment & innovative

procurement • insights from the European Commission • industry engagement to provide a multinational perspective

• discussion on how align the outcomes of this debate with the Renovated A2 Action Plan, including general/specific objectives specifically reflecting the A2 future vision on technologies

The webinar will be promoted via invitation to a broad range of partners including the AHA A2 Action Group, and the ECHAlliance Connected Health Ecosystem network.

4. Conclusions

The work of ProFouND in relation to technology for falls prevention, prediction and monitoring has been widely disseminated and promoted across the EU Connected Health Community.

The OIF has been well received to date, with 11 challenges currently under discussion. Four reference sites are being promoted as demonstrating good practice in using technology for falls prevention.

5. Sustainability

It is planned that the ProFouND website will continue to be maintained for the next three years and ECHAlliance will continue to maintain the OIF website for that period. We will continue to promote the OIF as a valuable resource, encouraging falls professionals across academia, industry, and the healthcare and public sector to use the site to share discussion of challenges, potential solutions, expected benefits and issues of implementation around using technology for falls prevention, prediction and monitoring.

Technology for falls prevention, prediction and monitoring will continue to be a major area of focus for the EU Connected Health Community.
