Proverbs 25:23 The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.

We should never listen to a gossip.

They will always say bad things about our friends.

Get angry; “Don’t talk about my friends.”

“He is my brother, and I don’t want to hear this.”

“She is my sister; stop your trashy mouth.”

24 It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house.

This is the third Proverb telling us it’s better to live alone in an uncomfortable place,

Than in a beautiful and spacious home with a brawling woman.

The reverse is just as true.

Husbands and wives need to love one another; with more than eros.

1 Corinthians 13 (NIV) 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

5

That is the genuine love of a husband for his wife, and of a wife for her husband.

Patient and kind – all the time.

Never envious – “He doesn’t work as hard as I do.” “She doesn’t work like I do.”

Never brags in his or her pride.

Never self-seeking; not demanding his or her own way.

6

Genuine love of a husband and wife is not easily angered, and never holds a grudge.

They protect one another.

They trust one another, and each is worthy of that trust; no cheating or lying.

They are hopeful for the future.

Their love will never die.

25 As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.

Remember this when you have friends or relatives who have moved far away.

26 A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.

(TLB) 26 If a godly man compromises with the wicked, it is like polluting a fountain or muddying a spring.

Fifty shades of grey.

10

There can be no compromise

between good and evil.

God hates hands that shed innocent

blood.

27 It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.

(NIV) 27 It is not good to eat too much honey, nor is it honorable to seek one's own honor.

Proverbs 27 2 Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.

Nobody likes a braggart.

28 He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

Self restraint is produced in us by God’s Holy Spirit.

Submit unto Him and be strong.
