3. Traffic Improvement through Grade-separation.

Mall-Canal Underpass, Lahore: Completed on 14th November 2003, at a cost of Rs. 243 m in 90

days.

F.C. College Underpass, Lahore: Completed on 8th March 2004, at a cost of Rs. 288 m in 90 days.

Shaukat Ali Road Canal Crossing Underpass, Lahore: Construction started on 15th March 2004, at a cost of Rs.190 m. To

be completed in 90 days.

Johar Town Canal Crossing Underpass, Lahore: Construction started on 15th March 2004, at a cost of Rs.196 m. To

be completed in 90 days.

Government of Punjab is following a policy of maximum

funding to the ongoing schemes for early completion. The

schemes relating to Road Sector are given priority for early

completion to avoid cost over-run.

1. Moving towards higher road density as an engine for

economic growth.

An average addition of 50 kilometers of road in each

district every year.

Enhanced funding for maintenance and repair of

existing infrastructure.

Improvement and upgradation of arterial roads and

the roads connected with such roads.
