Purposeful Leadership. Powerful Impact.
October 22 – 27, 2017Palm Desert, CA
Senior Director of Global Programs
Rachael A. Marangu
The leadership call to action has never been greater—and in our “do more with less” global
landscape, the expectations placed on leaders have never been higher. Compelled to deliver
stronger results each day, it’s no surprise that our attention is continually fragmented across
a myriad of strategic priorities. We are, in short, inundated with activity and expectations, and
racing to keep pace with the next call to action.
Here’s the irony: above all else, the greatest call to action we will ever have as leaders is to live
out our purpose.
Linkage defines leadership in its truest form as a lifelong journey of purposeful commitments
made to ourselves and others. Leaders who commit to leading purposefully impact their teams,
organizations and communities in greater ways, and leave a lasting legacy with those around
them. Join us for Linkage’s Global Institute for Leadership Development® (GILD) to discover the
leadership commitments that comprise a purposeful leader—and how they’ll impact your
personal journey, your team, your organization, and society at large.
Purpose and Intention
Your path to Purposeful Leadership™ starts now.
You—and others in your organization—are committed
to change, driven to excellence, and focused on
creating meaningful impact.
And together, you’re not only ready for what’s next—
you’re ready to change the game.
Transform your organization’s leadership capabilities by coming together at GILD.
Our research, inclusive of over 100,000 leaders
worldwide, revealed that purposeful leaders
commit to a lifelong journey centered on five critical
commitments. The GILD experience is a fundamental
step in the journey of becoming a purposeful leader.
Participants experience the five commitments through
a combination of 360⁰ assessment, small-group
learning sessions, world-class faculty, one-on-one
coaching, and an Individual Development Plan focused
on empowering each leader with the tools to create
lasting impact.

Whether you join as an individual or as
part of a team, prepare to be inspired and
challenged. Prepare to encounter the
unexpected, as well as the profound. Most
importantly, prepare to engage fully at GILD,
because this kind of leadership experience—
much like leadership in life—has no sidelines.
The unique combination of learning elements
encourages authenticity and introspection,
and is facilitated in a way that requires every
leader to be fully present. Active participation
in each phase of the Institute will ignite
individual transformation, which in turn builds
momentum for teams and organizations to
achieve better business results.
Imagine the multiplier effect in your
organization when you engage your entire
team of high-performing leaders at GILD.
You have the opportunity to build stronger
cross-functional ties, address unique
organizational factors, and inspire them
to lead organizational change. Leaders’
impact, team outcomes, and organizational
performance each amplify when teams
engage together at GILD. Invite others to the
table, and invite possibility to become reality.
I can’t think of another institute
that exists anywhere in the
world with this depth of
resources and with this ability
to be both inspirational and
aspirational for its participants.

“GILD has no spectators
GILD was the best leadership
program I have ever been
through. Quite simply, the
breadth of speakers and
strategies is what makes it
different. You are not locked
into a one-size-fits-all learning.

The Senior Executive Leadership Forum: An Exclusive OfferingUpgrade your institute experience by taking part in closed-session roundtable conversations with our GILD faculty. The Senior Executive
Leadership (SEL) Forum is a rare opportunity for a small group of leaders from around the world to learn from one another while addressing
their most pressing leadership questions with GILD’s keynote faculty. Discussions are facilitated by Sam Lam, President and Managing
Consultant of Linkage Asia, and participation is limited to the first 20 qualified participants. For more information, please call +1 (781) 402-5555.
GILD is a world-class program. It is
a fantastic call to action for senior
leaders, one that requires a lot of
healthy professional reflection, helps
develop a sense of urgency and also
resist complacency in a world of
competing priorities. GILD faculty is
of the highest quality in all disciplines
covered. I definitely intend to repeat
the experience!

360o Assessment One-On-One Coaching Expert Guidance
Before GILD begins, complete Linkage’s 360°
Purposeful Leadership Assessment™, a multi-
dimensional tool that measures leaders in the
five commitments that differentiate purposeful
leaders. This tool is the culmination of research
from more than 100,000 leaders worldwide. It
assesses both the internal development of a
leader—how he or she personally responds to
situations and manages himself or herself—
and the leader’s impact on the organization
and their team members.
Hand-select your individual coach, with
whom you’ll have a 60-minute dedicated
session during the Institute, followed by
two virtual meetings 4–6 weeks after GILD.
The coach becomes a trusted partner for
helping participants debrief their assessment
results, craft an Individual Development
Plan, and monitor progress on their goals.
Many participants extend their coaching
relationship to drive lasting impact after
the Institute.
GILD faculty is a mix of world-renowned
leaders, educators, authors, executives,
entrepreneurs, coaches and team facilitators
who are committed to the principles of
leading purposefully. A total participant-to-
faculty ratio of 4:1 provides an abundance
of in-depth learning opportunities and
ongoing access to the experts throughout the
GILD experience.

A Leader’s Journey at GILD
Learning Teams Team Excursions Ongoing Engagement
Prior to GILD, each participant is assigned to
a small, facilitator-led team of peers based
on a number of considerations, including
years of experience, level of responsibility,
and learning style. During the Institute, these
learning teams gather for two hours each day
to reflect on the content shared and draw
connections to their most pressing leadership
challenges. Organizations who bring at least
12 leaders have the ability to build an intact
learning team.
Shared experiences create the opportunity
to inspire and be inspired. Inspired people,
in turn, drive your organization’s success.
Choose from one of our off-site excursions
for a rare opportunity to soak in all that Palm
Desert has to offer while building rapport
with your learning team, reflecting on salient
leadership themes, and creating a network of
trusted advisors focused on creating impact.
GILD is designed to facilitate ongoing learning
and engagement from our participants. As part
of the GILD tuition, leaders have access to our
Leader for Life™ series, which includes virtual
learning sessions designed to reinforce and
expand on leadership principles taught on-
site. This content can be leveraged individually,
or as connection points for teams who
attended together.

Tailored Leadership Development
Organizations that are committed to building
stronger leaders and better results approach
the GILD investment as a part of a broader
strategic construct. Well before the Institute,
Linkage partners with clients to design an
actionable leadership strategy based on
an organization’s business objectives. In
many cases, GILD serves as the kick-off to
the plan, which can include in-person and
virtual skill-building sessions, coaching, 360⁰
assessments and action learning.
Action-Oriented Coaching
When you combine the immersive Institute
experience with Linkage’s signature coaching
process, your leaders experience true
transformation—and can turn their intentions
into action. Many organizations engage
Linkage coaches after GILD to accelerate
individual change and personal growth.
Our coaching options add rigor and focus
to the development process—and give
your leaders an objective counsel to help
them successfully navigate the day-to-day
challenges of leading.
Extended Learning
GILD serves as your launching point for
ongoing learning through Linkage’s Leader
for Life™ series, which includes virtual learning
sessions that reinforce and expand on the
topics covered at the Institute. This content
can be leveraged individually or within teams
through a combination of live and on-demand
virtual sessions. Many organizations use this
as an opportunity to bring their team back
together to revisit development goals and
discuss progress.
