Concept Note on"Student Pavilion" in AERO INDIA - 2019
Aero India-20 19, the biennial air show-cum-defence exhibition organised
by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) is scheduled to be held from 20 - 24th Febru-
ary 2019 at Air Force Station, Yelahanka, Bengaluru. This event is being co-
hosted by Ministry of Civil Aviation. The five day event will be attended by a
large number of visitors including exhibitors from the World's leading industries
in the field of military and civil aviation. Aero India-20 19, for the first time,
envisages to set up a "Student Pavilion" to showcase the projects of students on
aerospace related activities.
During this five days mega event, 'Technology Day' is being observed
on 23rd February 2019, wherein interalia, students who are involved in the aer-
ospace sector, both civil and defence, will be given an opportunity to showcase
their projects. The selected projects on aerospace related activities would be dis-
played. As a part of this exercise, students from Universities / Institutions would
be invited to submit their projects. These projects would be evaluated by an ap-
propriate body to ensure selection of exciting and technically challenging pro-
jects for the event. This is also in line with the initiatives such as Make in India,
·Digital India & Startup India.
In this background, Aero India Steering Committee has constituted a
"Student Committee" under the chairmanship of Dr. N Saravana Kumar, Joint
Secretary, ICC, MHRD ~nd with representatives from Indian Air Force, P&C,
DPO ICE-I, and HAL. This Committee has the mandate to shortlist the potential
proposals in the area of aerospace and allied sectors. The selected proposals will
be displayed in Aero India-20 19 exhibition. To assist in shortlisting the pro-
posals, an Experts Committee has been constituted.
In keeping with the theme of the conference, students all over India are
invited to present products / concepts on the Application of Aerospace Tech-
nologies for the Betterment of the Billion lives ( AABB ). All the selected
entries will be exhibited at the "Student Pavilion" at Aero India 2019, which will
be a great opportunity for global exposure and winning awards. A general notice
( attached) is being issued to all the Higher Educational Institutions, requesting
for proposals from the students especially from such Institutions which have
Aerospace Engineering department. The proposals would be received in two
stages - Concept Note and Detailed Project Report, as per the time lines men-
tioned below.
The following Time-lines would be followed.
1. Issuing Invite Notice from MHRD asking for Concept Note on the proposed
project - 12.12.2018
2. Receiving Concept Note from students - 07.01.2019
3. Scrutiny of Concept Note and Shortlisting of proposals - 14.01.2019
4. Receiving Detailed Project Report from shortlisted candidates - 24.01.2019
5. Announcement of finally selected Projects - 26.01.2019
6. Display of selected projects in Aero India 2019 - 20.02.19 to 24.02.19
7. Awards to selected projects in the Valedictory function - 24.02.19

of Civil Aviation are proud to announce a student competition to exhibit products /
concepts / innovative ideas on aerospace technologies at Aero India 2019 ,sched-
uled to be held in Bengaluru during February 20-24, 2018. In keeping with the
theme of the conference / show, students from all over India are invited to present
products I concepts on the Application of Aerospace Technologies for the Bet-
terment of the Billion lives (AABB). All the finally selected entries will be exhibited,
at the "Student Pavilion" at Aero India 2019. It is a great opportunity to the students
for global exposure and .also to win awards. Proposals can cover (a) futuristic re-
search (b) exhibition of new emerging technologies in form of prototypes / models
(c) demonstration of innovative applications / products of existing & proven technol-
ogies.
Team size: Maximum upto 4 (Team leader + 3 Team members)
The team would be assisted with boarding, lodging, travel and local transport and
local support in the display of the projects during the Aero India program.
Aerospace Technologies (Suggestive): Avionics, Advanced Structures, Advanced
Materials, Engines & Fuels, Propulsion Systems, Power Sources, Mathematical &
Simulation models, Decision Support Systems, Command & Control Systems, Au-I
tonomous Systems, Surveillance, Stealth Technologies, Cyber Security, Cyber Phys-
ical Systems, etc
Aerospace Application Areas (Suggestive): Drones/UAVs; Mini/Micro Satellites;
Aerostats/Balioons; etc
Initial Selection procedure: Participants need to submit a concept paper (may be
an extended abstract of maximum 2 pages). The abstract should consists of:
1 MisSion/problem statement
2. Suggested Solution /methodology and Current status of technology/solution
3. Innovation in design or application/product/solution.
4. Related IPR and publication(s) (if any)
5. Roadmap for realization from concept to Product.
.6. Collaboration with startups or incubation (if applicable).
Screening of Concept papers:
Concept papers will be screened and short listed by an expert committee. The
shortlisted proposals would be asked to submit Detailed Project Report.
The proposals should be forwarded through the Institute / faculty member in which
the students are studying.
