4) How did your attract/ address your audience?

Some knowledge needed: artists etc as these artists are not always known worldly

due to the genre being very much for young adults rather than mainstream

Language• Casual and energetic language • Direct address (more informal)

Model• Young model used• Dark clothing as seen to be typical of young

people (especially those who listen to rock/ alternative/ punk)

Choice of article

• Interviews are most popular and featured in all music magazines

• Easiest way to introduce new artists or find out more about existing artists

Band Choices• Included bands that are very popular

with young adults• All been featured on magazines such

as NME and Kerrang in the past

Editorial Pillars• Clear pillars• Not too many different sections (easy to find

articles but makes the reader still have to read through)

Both magazine contents pages have five editorial pillars (a common number found in other magazines I analysed)

Advert• Vans advert: vans are very popular and has

links to activities like skateboardingThese are old vans adverts whichwouldn’t appeal as much to myaudience so I developed my ownstyle of advert I thought wasmore suitable for my audienceafter doing my analysis
