Licensing Along the Ragbrai Route

There are three ways in which beverage alcohol may be lawfully sold and served along the Ragbrai route:

Moving an Existing License

Brand Names or Logo Advertising

Spirits, beer, and wine brand/logo advertising is allowed on the inside of the licensed premises

Inside the premises includes outdoor services areas where advertisements are to be facing inwards

Signage posted inside the premises that can be seen through the window is allowable Signs on the inside window facing out is allowable.

Legal Drinking Age 21 & Older ID Use of Wristbands If in Doubt, Do not Serve No Exceptions

Tapper Wagons, Cooling Cores, Cold Plates Class E-Liquor Licensees: Permitted Private Vendors: Permitted No Beer or Wine Wholesalers Receipt Required

Wholesalers May Not Give or Pay for Furnishing, Fixtures, Equipment, used

in Storing, Dispensing, Handling Alcohol Beverages and Food (Includes Glassware)

Extend Credit for Product Contribute $ to Retail Licensee (Including Non-profits) Assist with Selling/Serving Alcoholic Beverages Violation to Both Wholesaler & Retailer

Wholesalers May Sell Disposable Glassware

Bootlegging

Selling alcohol without a licenseExpired licenseSelling/serving outdoors without outdoor

Penalties for Violations

Sales – To – Minor Violations Criminal Fines (Against Seller)

$1,500 Criminal Fine – Licensee $500 Criminal Fine – Agent or Employee plus court costs

Penalties for Violations

Sales-to-minor Violations Administrative Sanctions (Against License)

1st - $500.00 2nd - 30 – Day Suspension + $1,500 3rd – 60-Day Suspension + $1,500 4th – Revocation

No License to Person – 2 years No License to Premises – 1 year

Penalties for Violations

Immediate Suspension Prevent or avoid immediate danger to public’s health

safety and welfare. Licensee has due process rights, however no selling or

serving until final disposition of the matter.

2 Hour Shifts Servers – No drinking No Gallon Containers No More Than Two Drinks at a Time Keep Fence Intact
