Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year at the Rancocas Valley Regional High School
District. We are looking forward to another year full of opportunities for our students
and their families. Each year we prepare to make the upcoming year better than the previous year and this school year you will not be disappointed. One different initiative that Rancocas Valley will be coordinating this year is creating a long-range strategic plan for the school district. The strategic planning process will allow all stakeholders including students, parents, and community members to become involved in a plan that will improve the school district over the next few years. During the year you will see opportunities to get involved. This is a great time to leave a legacy at Rancocas Valley High School!
Rancocas Valley provides a full program of academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular opportunities for all of our students. Students are encouraged to take advantage of as much as possible to create an outstanding high school experience that will prepare them to become the best functioning members of our communities after high school. The encompassing program of opportunities at RV prepares all of our graduates to successfully compete in any area after departing the hallowed halls of Rancocas Valley. You will notice a saying in the hallway at Rancocas Valley that reads, “Enter to Learn, Go Forth to Serve.” Rancocas Valley synthesizes volunteerism and community service into the entire program of offerings as this contributes to preparing responsible citizens that contribute on a global scale.
The activity calendar is a great tool for Rancocas Valley students and families. The calendar highlights many options for student and family involvement. We hope parents and guardians will support their child’s participation in their selected activities. Our alumni tell us that they cherish the memories of their involvement while they were at Rancocas Valley. When I asked a group of exiting seniors what they would tell our new and returning students they said, “Get involved!” Use this resource to get started!
Please feel free to contact me or stop me to talk. Students should sign up for one of the monthly “Superintendent Lunch and Learn” sessions so that we can talk over lunch this year. I enjoy those lunches and talking to students is my favorite part of the job!
Good luck and enjoy the 2016-2017 school year!
Dr. Christopher HeiligSuperintendent

Parent and Community Activities The students, staff and administration of Rancocas Valley Regional High School benefit greatly from the active participation of the entire community including parents, alumni, civic and service organizations, and businesses from throughout the region. Many programs that have been initiated over the past 10 years, including Robotics, RV Foundation and the Key Communicators (formerly the Parent Advisory Committee), would not have been possible without an active corps of volunteers from all walks of life.
KEy CommuniCAtorSRancocas Valley Regional’s Key Communicators, formerly the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC), will be active in a wide range of activities this year. The group is comprised of community representatives, RV staff, parents of students - including eighth grade parents from the five sending districts, the Principal and the Superintendent. The mission of the Rancocas Valley Key Communicators is to increase communication to and from the communities within the Rancocas Valley Region. The group encourages families to stay involved in their children’s lives throughout high school, although their roles are somewhat different than at the elementary and middle school levels. Join us each month at 7:00pm beginning in October. Please see the calendar for specific days and room assignments.

EDuCAtionAL FounDAtion...ensuring opportunity and excellence for every Rancocas Valley
Regional High School student In October 1998 the RV Board of Education endorsed the establishment of an educational foundation to help ensure opportunity and excellence for every student. The foundation is comprised of citizens from the five sending districts and alumni of the high school. Its formation also meets a primary goal of the district’s strategic plan and is the newest component of ongoing community and parent involvement programs. Trustees of the foundation made a commitment to donate their time and expertise to develop fundraising campaigns that range from the “tried and true” to the “never been tried before.” The foundation is an autonomous, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation separate and distinct from the board of education. Tax-deductible gifts can be made to the foundation in the form of cash contributions, bequests, insurance policies, memorials and tributes. The Rancocas Valley Regional Educational Foundation is another significant step in the school and community’s pursuit of educational excellence and high achievement. In addition to providing funding sources, the foundation encourages communication and the exchange of ideas between the school and the communities we serve. Additional funding and new ideas may, in turn, foster innovative solutions to the challenges facing public education today.
rV ALumni ASSoCiAtion All Rancocas Valley Alumni are encouraged to visit the RVRHS website for information about upcoming events, alumni achievements, and reunions. If you would like to request that information be posted on the website, please contact Ron Maniglia (rmaniglia@rvrhs.com) with specific details or news you would like to share. Upcoming reunion details can be posted on the school website and social media sites. This is a great resource to reach out to old friends and keep the traditions and memories of RV alive.
One of the most significant accomplishments of the Rancocas Valley Community is the annual Project Graduation, a safe alternative to parties and trips to the shore following the graduation ceremony. Project Graduation includes a midnight cruise on a privately chartered yacht in the New York harbor, complete with dining, dancing to music provided by DJs, a mock casino and other activities. Graduates return to RV the next morning for a festive breakfast served by their parents. The event is one of the highlights of graduation. The RV community and volunteer parents coordinate many fundraising activities throughout the school year to help make Project Graduation possible. The Mr. RV Pageant as well as basket auction, craft fair, pie sales, and seasonal flower sales are just a few of the fundraisers. Without the generous support from many local businesses along with the community at large, this highly successful event would not be possible. See monthly activities throughout the calendar for details on when and where events and fundraisers will be held. Senior parents are encouraged and invited to attend Project Graduation meetings held at 7 pm the second Monday of each month.

We support these social events as privileges for students who have demonstrated good attendance, academic achievement, and appropriate behavior throughout the school year.
Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors must meet the eligibility requirements listed below to attend the Homecoming Dance, any Class Prom (Junior and/or Senior Prom) as a guest or a member of the class, and any school sponsored trip. Seniors must meet the eligibility requirements listed below to earn parking privileges on campus and to participate in the Homecoming Dance, Senior Class Trip, any Class Prom as a guest or member of the class, and any school sponsored trip, including Project Graduation:
1. Attendance – No more than 12 unauthorized absences or no more than 15 unauthorized tardies prior to the date of the privilege or event. Students on home instruction are not eligible for school events.
2. Discipline – No more than 2 out-of-school suspensions or any single offense deemed especially serious by the Superintendent prior to the date of the privilege or event.
3. Fines – All fines must be paid in full prior to the privilege or event. Prom tickets cannot be purchased or parking permits issued unless all fines are paid.
Please note: There are no refunds for monies paid for the Senior Class Trip and Class Proms if a student is not in good standing at the time of the trip and/or prom.
