“Originality is nothing but judicious imitation” this quote I read nearly forty years ago in the Times of India. I was then in my twenties. I started understanding these last two words “judicious imitation” and in course o f time realized that as an artist we try to define between Perception and Reality while drawing the image. My this Visual Alphabets journey started in 1968 which is continued till today exploring their various possibilities. I am honestly not the Cartoonist and cannot be manufacturer of cartoons especially the pocket cartoons. My artist father Late Prof.R.P.Joshi and Art Mentor artist Shantaram Pawar gave me this confidence and I began to draw these visual alphabets.

These are my THUMB IMPRESSIONS inspired from The greats like SHEDA PHADANIS,VASANT SARAWATE,PRBHASHANKAR KAWADI,BRAND HOLLAND,MURRY TILKALMAN,SPANFILLER.

They are my inspirations… My childhood schoolmate Shekhar Naik and myself use to draw by memory the cartoons of Bal and Shrikant Thackeray brothers work published in their MARMAIK a Marathi publication. D.T. Padekar my first class ranker classmate in Sir.J.J.Institute of Applied Art gave more precious insight about drawing. I was more inclined to the works of SHEDA (S.D.) PHADNIS and VASANT SARWATE right from my child hood (1956) till today that is more than sixty years.

My Real Identity was given to me by my guru Shantaram Pawar and Brad Holland. They taught me to look beyond just “cartoons.”
