Project Management as a storytelling practice

• A project is a story told in “future perfect tense”

• In order to– generate a coherent story about the future.– Assess ex ante the performance in each

stage without appropriate KPI’s and benchmarks (generally based on past experience)

– Motivate teams to action

Actions and behaviours

• Without a project there would be no action, only behaviour.

• When actors decide to implement a project they become equipped with “in-order-to”motivations

• action is designed and taken “in order to” realize the projected future state.
