SONG CONTEST
TIPS FOR CREATING YOUR SCHOOL 4-H SONG
Song: Begin by selecting a favorite
tune.
Be Creative: Replace the words of the
song with words about the 4-H club pro-
gram. Some suggestions are: project
books, record books, cookery contests,
livestock shows, Achievement Day, camp,
community service, workshops, officer
training, and club meetings. Keep your
song short and simple. Practice is im-
portant: Make sure all members know the
words and the tune.
On Achievement Day, sing loud so
that the judges and audience can hear.
You may include simple dance steps or
hand motions. This is not required. Props
can be used such as signs, shakers, or cos-
tumes. This is not required. Music may be
used. Please bring your own equipment.

4-H Record Book Tips:
4-H Record books are due to the 4-H

A record book is your 4-H project book and 4-H
portfolio. You can place them in a binder or folder to
turn them in together.
You should have started working on your 4-H
project book already. Take pictures and document
your work to include in your 4-H record book.
You can find the 4-H Portfolio at
http://www.lsuagcenter.com/en/4H/teens/4h_portfolio
/4H-Portfolio.htm
Place pictures, ribbons, and any other supporting ma-
terial from the 4-H year.
Keeping track of your 4-H participation , especially with
community service work, can make filling out applica-
tions and awards easy as you get older.
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Cherie
at 985-873-6495 or croger@agcenter.lsu.edu.
