•Bush Craft for Beginners•Woodland Explorers•Team games, Adventurous Activities, Orienteering and Problem Solving Challenges

•All in a new environment, very different from our school local area!

Activity Details

Bush craft for Beginners

A programme of outdoor challenges and problem-solving exercises aimed at developing confidence and teamwork skills. The range of activities includes den building, outdoor cookery, tool skills, fire-lighting and orienteering/navigation skills.

Activity Details

Woodland Detective - This programme offers a wide selection of activities aimed at encouraging discovery about the ecology of the local habitat. The range of activities includes: animal detectives, woodland plants and trees, comparison of habitats, plant studies, seeds and seed dispersal, animal and plant identification, collection methods, food chains, seasonal variation and nature recycles.

21st - 23rd May 2014Key Information:Wednesday 21st Arrival at School 7.45am Bus leaves at 8am

You will need a packed lunch on that day.

Friday 23rd Depart youth hostel 1.30pm Expected arrival back at School 4.30pmKeep eye on notice board for slight time changes.Notification by telephone if any significant delays.

Residential TripPacking

In a small suitcase or holdallNightwearIndoor Shoes – plimsolls or slippers for hostelWashing bag – toothpaste, toothbrush, flannel, hairbrush, soap etc.Towels – large for showers(!) + small hand towel Several complete changes of clothing, including warm jumpers/sweatshirts, trousers, t-shirts or lightweight tops. Underwear Socks (several pairs in case you get wet feet!) Extra cartons of drink for next two days Extra snacks ( +any essential cuddly toy!) If you have waterproof trousers, these could be useful...but are not essential!

Footwear:Come in sensible and comfortable shoes that you can run around in eg trainers. We will be doing a lot of walking!

MUD:It may be muddy, depending on the weather. If you have walking boots/shoes, bring these IN ADDITION to trainers. If you do not, it is a good idea to bring an extra pair of very old trainers, which can get very wet and muddy!

In your rucksack/day bag...Packed lunch for WednesdayHandkerchief/tissuesSun cream/sunglasses/sun hat…or perhaps hat and gloves… just in case!(Keep an eye on the weather forecast!)Drink flask/plastic water bottle (refillable)Spending money in a labelled purse/wallet ()Waterproof coatCamera - Not a precious/expensive one please!

Please no mobile phones/mp4 players (plays video as well as audio) eg ipod touch/kindles /any other electronic games equipment/ hairdryers/hair straighteners

(Mp3 devices which play music/audio books only may be taken – but they remain your responsibility!)

Oh....and a quick word about behaviour! Keep up the good work....

We have always been complemented on our good behaviour, great listening and great manners.

We have high expectations...and the children always live up to them!

Behaviour Code will be written by children and staff in the run up to visit.We follow the code so that we all have a BRILLIANT TIME!
