DEAR FAMILIES ,
CHILDREN’S REPORT: INFORMATION SESSION
Do you want to know more information about your child’s report? On Wednesday 10th June we will offer two information sessions on how to read/interpret your child’s report. The first session will begin at 9.00am and will be repeated at 2.30pm in the MacKillop room. The session will go through all the areas of a report and provide you with information on what to ask the teacher during the interview and how you can assist your child further. All parents are welcome to attend.
LEAVE I will be on leave from Monday 1st June and will return on Monday 27th July (3rd week of Term 3). Whist I am away Mr. Mark Miatello will be acting Principal and Mrs. Helen Belden will be Acting Deputy.
CONFIRMATION Thanks to Fr Noel, Mrs. Frances Barone, the Senior school teachers and Mrs Pauline Debrincat (Parish Catechist) for all of their efforts in preparing and planning our Confirmation candidates and celebrations. Much time, effort and co-ordination is required to ensure the children are knowledgeable about all elements of confirmation and that the confirmation mass is a prayerful celebration for all to participate in. Well done to all!
Special thanks also to Mrs Rose Grech and our School Choir who sang at last week’s confirmation. The choir did a great job and they were warmly acknowledged by the Bishop and all others present. Thanks to the choir parents for dropping and picking up their child!

SENIOR NUMERACY ACTIVITIES Last week the Senior students created fraction and decimals games and asked other students to play their game. A great way for all of the students to learn in a fun way more about fractions and decimals. The photos show the students playing the games.
SCHOOL CAR PARK When driving into the school car park, please keep to speed limit as displayed – 10 kph. The car park exit gates will be closed from 8.30 am Monday to Thursday. Please wait until a staff member directs traffic before leaving the car park.
DROP OFF ZONE When using the drop off zone in the morning, please be aware that there is no right hand turn from the car park into Gum Road. Please do not overtake other cars in this area who are dropping children off.
Please note some features of our drop off zone so that all families can enter and exit quickly and safely.
Ensure your child/ren leave the car via the passenger doors and have their school bags with them (not in the boot of the car).
Children then move safely into the school yard. Please drive up to the
yellow line so that other parents can enter the driveway.
CROSS COUNTRY
Next Thursday 18 children will represent Resurrection in the District Cross Country competition. We wish all the children the very best with their efforts.
YEAR 3-6 ATHLETICS CARNIVAL The school Athletics day is fast approaching. On Friday May 29th at Keilor Park Athletics Track, all students in Year 3-6 will take part in a fun and competitive day of athletics. Students need to wear their sports uniform; however students can choose to wear a plain coloured t-shirt or ribbons to represent their team’s colour. All students have received their permission form and hopefully they have returned it to their classroom teacher. We are keen to get parent helpers on the day - if you have your WWCC and are available, please let the PE staff know.
WORKING BEE Please keep in mind our next WORKING BEE, which will start at 8.30am on Saturday 13th June. Remember that working bees are a vital way of improving our school environment. There are many parents who, due to work and other commitments, cannot assist during our normal school week. Our working bees are a great opportunity to meet other parents and assist your child’s school at the same time. I invite parents who have their eldest child in Middle School (Years 3 & 4) to attend as your one working bee commitment for the year.

PARISH NEWS
Evangelii Gaudium (The Joy of the Gospel) Pope Francis’ Apostolic Letter
“…trust in their own powers and feel superior to others because they observe certain rules or
remain intransigently faithful to a particular Catholic style from the past.” #94
Where Will You Sit?
The season of Easter begins with the Easter Vigil and concludes on Pentecost Sunday. This year the “Easter Vigil set-
up” of our church remained for the whole of the Easter season. We are fortunate to have flexibility in the seating
and altar configuration for our liturgies. Next week the altar will be in the centre as it usually is throughout the
year. Where will you sit? During the week you might ask yourself the following:
Will I return to “my” seat?
What did I like or not like about the “Easter Vigil set-up of our church?
Did it in any way challenge me? Why was that?
Did it help or hinder my participation in the Liturgy? Why?
Do I always sit in the same seat? Why?
Do I always need a seat on the aisle? Why?
Do I ever move into the centre and make it easier for people to get into the row?
Do I ever sit next to someone I don’t know?
Do I ever introduce myself to someone I don’t know?
Of course you have ever right to sit where you wish, however at least understand why you sit where you do. It is a
decision you make every time you come to Mass. It would be good to prayerfully and honestly consider the above
questions and relate your answers to your participation or non-participation in the Liturgy.
What Happens after 10.30 Mass
Have you noticed the confusion in the coffee area that often occurs after our 10.30 Sunday Mass? With large
numbers participating in this Mass exiting at the very time the coffee tables are being unstacked. There is a
problem. There is a problem because nobody takes responsibility. Tables are sometimes placed so close together
that there is no room for chairs. Often tables are left without chairs. Parishioners rostered on for coffee-making are
frequently “crushed” with so many people crowding around. No one takes responsibility. Extra tables need to come
from the hall or the stage. How many times do we need to see Fr Noel lifting tables? How might we encourage new
parishioners to stay for coffee? We can do better! Are you prepared to help? Leave your contact details at the
Parish Office kingspark@cam.org.au
Parish Groups
Did you commit to a Parish Group for the next twelve months? If not did you read with a prayerful heart the
descriptions of all the groups? If you did not you can find the group descriptions on the parish Web www.res-
parish.org Do you understand the Parish Meeting concept? Again it is available on our Web. Where we are as a
parish this time next year depends to a large extent on the number of parishioners who make a commitment to a
Parish Group. Will You? It is not too late.
Pope Francis – Daily Meditations
Do you know that the Vatican Press Office publishes a summary of Pope Francis’ daily homilies? The summary is
less than an A4 size; but they are well worth reading. Simply go to the Vatican site www.vatican.va and scroll onto
“Daily Meditations”. Don’t forget to request the English translation. Alternatively you can go to our web site
www.res-parish.org and follow the link.
Cathedral Walk
Are you coming to the Cathedral on Sunday 13 December? That is walking, cycling, skateboarding, public transport,
car, or…? It is the 1st
Sunday of the Year of Mercy declared by Pope Francis. In his Papal Bull (available on our web
www.res-parish.org) Pope Francis asks us to become pilgrims and walk through the “Door of Mercy”.
Proclaimers
Attention all Proclaimers, your attention is drawn to No. 9 in your Proclaimer Guidelines: “Person reading prayers
of intercession to come forward DURING the Creed”.
Pope Francis’ Daily Prayer
The prayer to the Holy Spirit that Pope Francis asks us to pray each day is: “Holy Spirit, make my heart open to the
word of God, make my heart open to goodness, make my heart open to the beauty of God every day.”
