Preliminary literature Review reveals that such a phenomenon is recurrent in most of the Indian Diaspora.

It is against this background that this study is taken up.5

This study is important:

1. To understand how the various parameters of identity are changing.

2. To understand how dance acts as an identity marker and how it is adapting & changing itself in a digital world.

3. To contribute in the corpus of research in understanding Indian Diasporic behaviour and in understanding the evolution of classical dance in Indian Diaspora.

The objectives of the study are:1. To study the patterns of movement of

various dance forms from the mainland to the Indian Diasporic countries.

2. To study the prevalence of Indian classical dance in Indian Diasporic countries.

3. To examine the evolution of the Indian classical dance forms ever since migration of Indians to Mauritius.
