In "Reveal. Resist. Revolt." volumes 1-4, we use our words as weapon. Within each zine you'll find the voices of young people working to expose hidden histories, unravel common misconceptions, and assert new visions of ourselves and our communities. Through these zines we question and reveal, resist the idea of who we've been told we're supposed to be or how the world is supposed to work. And by doing so we hope to begin to build bridges across difference, find allies, create alternatives, and ultimately revolt.

“The bridge I must be Is the bridge to my own power I must translate My own fears Mediate My own weaknesses

I must be the bridge to nowhere But my true self And then I will be useful”

— “The Bridge Poem” by Donna Kate Rushin, from This Bridge Called My Back: Writings by Radical Women of Color

In volume 3 of Reveal. Resist. Revolt. we’ve put together a collective of voices that seek to first understand and then explain a sense of how society and history has impacted us, and most importantly, a sense of who we are. By actively naming what society so often works to make invisible, we again hope to reveal and assert a new sense of self.

In this volume you’ll find writing that works to expose hidden histories, unravel common misconceptions, and assert new definitions and visions of ourselves and our communities.

By sharing our writing we hope to inspire you to think critically about whose history is taught, why we know what we know, who decides what’s beautiful, and who gets to define us or how we’re remembered.

We believe that it’s only by acknowledging difference and the strength that is contained within that, that we can hope to resist together. When we can understand each of our individual stories, only then can we begin to be useful, mindful, and good for each other. Through this zine we hope to build new definitions that move beyond what we’ve been told we’re supposed to be, to ones that allows us to build bridges across difference, find allies, create alternatives, and ultimately revolt.
