Happy 32nd birthday Pat Gallagher<' tw come you 1ook much older?)....

Then there's the ever..young Loretta Slyh who celebratedher ?? birthday on September 11th.At least she and John did somethingnormal like going to Lake Tahoe...$10.00. Yeah!! for Alan and DeniseRich who celebrated their 3rd anniver
sary and they didn't go campingeither..$5.00. Rick Franke, ourresident baseball whiz kid, only gotfined $5.00 for missing yes missinghow long the Giants had gone withouthitting a home run..$5.00...PeterTreleaven,being his normal cooperative self with Pres. Bob,got fined$5.00 for being the only clean andhonest broker in town(aren't thoseterms mutually exclusive?? (Howard?"d Kathy Daulton celebrated their
anniversary on Sept. 8th. Thisfeat combined with Howard's tricycleracing abilities cost him $5.00 forthe anniversary and $8.00 (for 8thplace) for the race.
CLUB NOTES:
Octoberfest preparation are off and running. Thanks to Joe Militello who setthe pace by selling all his 10 tickets. We need ideas for 2 more games. Keep upthe ticket sales! !!Dr. Doolittle keepssinging "If I could talk to the animals, walk with the animals". Octoberfest isa real biggy for your club. Sell thosetickets and volunteer to help before youget drafted.
A's versus Twins are on for Sept. 21st.Cost is $35.00 per person and includesfund from beginning to end. ContactJohn Dolinsek for further info at544-5493. Lets make sure we fill thisevent.
The first Fireside will be at Kent andJoan Seegmiller's house in October. AsPresident Bob mentioned, the purpose ofthese meetings are to build fellowshipand introduce the Red Badge members tothe club. As a reminder, all Red Badgesmust attend one fireside prior to attending their Blue Badges.
Last but not least-John Dolinsek "Wheredid you get that tie", voted at large asthe most *@#*#@ tie we've seen in years. What a fashion plate!
Many thanks to Preston Smith for an informative talk on the Airport Blvd.Business Park. As noted, Preston pointed outthat the park, when complete will have8,000,000 sq. feet of office space on 800+acres. It is the largest business park
in Sonoma County. In addition to itsown golf course, the park has agreementswith the Windsor utility district toprovide its own sewage and water servicedirectly to the park. Don't worry, thesewage water is going to be used forgolf course irrigation.
ON THE LIGHTER SIDE:
"Perfection is such a nuisance that I
often regret having cured myself oftobacco".
--Emile Zola, French novelistDon't blame us for this talk to Pres.
Dunn.
THE MEANING OF VOCATIONAL SERVICE:
What does Vocational Service mean to
you? Does it mean helping young peopletake their place in the business world,or improving the employment situationfor the physically handicapped? Perhaps it means finding jobs for the unemployed, or simply making work morepleasant for those who are around you. It's not important what VocationalService means to you. What is importantis what it means to others.

CLUB NOTES:
V"-~t a great meeting acting PresidentRaby gave us last-week. No
offense President Bob, but the fineswere certainly unique. He pulled theol' "no pin pay a dollar trick".But, yest "BUT" if you were not a cardcarrying Rotarian-you got to pay another dollar. PS...cards will be available this week. Otherwise, SteveOlson got stuck for $10.00. Fine wasfor each flag Steve was good enough tobring back from South Africa.
Bruce Bowe is the man to get additionaltickets for the Octoberfest from.Sales are going well but we need themto be "going great". Please call GaryDoolittle for any additional information.
his staff to revist Hawaii this year, not to mention he graduated top in hisdental class and completed his testingin the top 1% nationally. BesidesJim's concentration in Prosthodontics,Jim also concentrates on golfing andmountain biking.
Sheriff Michelson gave an excellenttalk on our Sheriff's department. Besides being responsible for 1600 squremiles, Dick has 558 employees under hiswing. Not to be alarmed, but your taxdollars are paying 300 of these peopleto take care of the existing prisonerpopulation. Adding to this depression, realize that the average inmate with 3meals and 2 snacks daily is only costing $22,000 per year!!!!

Bring your money Thursday. Mike Jameshas imported a real life auctioneerwho will sell to the highest biddersthe lamb purchased at the fair by ourclub. From a personal stand point, having bought fair meat, it's verytender and delicious. You won't regretit. Bob Dunn guarantees every piece.
WHY CLUB SERVICE IS BETTER THANGASOLINE:
Club Service is the fuel that keepsour club running all year long. Onthe coldest day of winter, notice howour meetings start right up. And insummer, our club never stalls orgets overheated.
But the reason Club Service is betterthan gasoline is the ease of its manufacture. Attendance, enthusiasm, fellowship—any of these can be converted by our club into the fuel itneeds to keep itself running. Forour club to get all the Club Serviceit requires, all we need to do isprovide the raw materials.

WHY WE'RE NOT THE ROTARY CLUB OF S0ME-
PLACE ELSE.
Isn't it fortunate that our RotaryClub is based in this very community? After all, this is the community withwhich each of us is most familiar. If
we had to perform Community Servicesomeplace else, we couldn't bring tobear the same depth of understandingand degree of local knowledge andexperience that we can apply to theprojects we undertake right here!
WHO GOVERNS THE ROTARY FOUNDATION?
The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International is governed by 13 Trustees. They are responsible for the management of the Foundation's funds and

Wondering what to do with yourlife?
This year, President Royce isasking clubs to PUT LIFE INTO {ROTARY by, among other things, developing a successful youthactivities program, involving parentsschools, young people and thecommunity. It's a good idea, onethat deserves the support of each ofus. When President Royce says "PutLife Into Rotary--Your Life" that'smore than an R.I. theme, it's agood way to strengthen our club.
