Haiti Aftermath
HAITI AFTERMATH
On 12th January 2010, Haiti was hit by a catastrophic earthquake killing more than 220,000 people. Even before this tragedy, Haiti had to face daily emergencies and difficult conditions such as: poverty, political violence and organized crime. The earthquake made the Haitian situation more
tragic. According to UNHCR estimates, there are about 1.5 million displaced people that survive in emergency camps without running water
or health services.
This photographic project reports the aftermath of the quake. It reveals the devastation, the victims, the lack of social assistance and the hard living conditions of the displaced people. It also shows the development of the
social and political situation and the steps to rebuild communities.
