Company History

• In the early 1920’s, Maxwell Motor company hired Walter Chrysler to “rescue” or reorganize the company.

• The first Chrysler vehicle was launched in January, 1924.

• Chrysler Corporation was officially founded on June 6th, 1925.

• Chrysler Corporation served as Redstone Arsenals prime contractor from the 1950’s to the 1970’s.

Ownership/Financial Problems

• In 1998 Chrysler partnered up with Daimler-Benz AG to create DaimlerChrysler.

• In 2007 Chrysler was sold by Daimler to Cerberus Capital Management which later became Chrysler LLC.

• In 2008 Chrysler LLC went bankrupt and received bailouts from both President Bush and Obama.

• On June 10th, 2009, Chrysler LLC got out of bankruptcy when it was sold to Fiat to form an alliance which is now known as Chrysler Group LLC.
