ROCKETA rocket is a missile, spacecraft, aircraft or other vehicle which obtains thrust from a rocket engine. The exhaust is formed entirely from propellants. Rocket engines work by action and reaction.

Rockets are very lightweight and powerful, capable of generating large accelerations and of attaining extremely high speeds with reasonable efficiency, and are not reliant on the atmosphere, and so work very well in space.

ROCKET

Rockets for military and recreational uses date back to at least 13th century China.

When rocketry was the enabling technology of the Space Age in the 20th cencury.

Rockets are now used for other reasons.

ROCKET

Chemical rockets are the most common type of rocket and they typically create their exhaust by the combustion of rocket propellant. Chemical rockets can be very dangerous. However, careful design minimizes risks.

SPACE PROGRAMS

Space exploration is the discovery and exploration of outer space by means of space technology. While the observation of objects in space was the development of large efficient

rockets during the early 20th century that allowed physical space exploration to become a reality

After the first 20 years of exploration, focus shifted from one-off flights to renewable hardware, such as the Space

Shuttle program, and from competition to cooperation as with the International Space Station.

SPACE PROGRAMS

Space Shuttle programNASA's Space Shuttle program, officially called Space

Transportation System (STS), was the United States government's manned launch vehicle program from 1981 to

2011.

SPACE PROGRAMS

The winged Space Shuttle orbiter was launched vertically carrying four to seven astronauts and up to 50,000 lb of payload into low Earth orbit.

SPACE PROGRAMS

When its mission was complete, the shuttle could independently move itself out of orbit using

its Maneuvering System and re-enter the Earth's atmosphere with descent landing

SPACE PROGRAMS

Soviet space programThe Soviet space program is the rocketry and space exploration programs conducted by the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics from the 1930s until its dissolution in 1991.

SPACE PROGRAMS

Over its sixty-year history, this primarily classified military program was responsible for a number of pioneering

accomplishments in space flight, including the first intercontinental great accomplishments.

SPACE PROGRAMS

SPACE SHUTTLEThe space shuttle is a spacecraft designed for

transporting people and cargo to and from orbit around Earth. NASA built the shuttle in the 1970’s to

serve as a reusable rocket that could fly many missions. Past spacecrafts could only be used one

time.

SPACE SHUTTLE

After 10 years of preparing Columbia, the first space shuttle was launched on April 12, 1981. Now four space shuttles are in use—

1.Columbia (1981), 2.Discovery (1983),

3.Atlantis (1985), and 4.Endeavour (1991),

which replaced Challenger.

Important MissionsTwo of the most important missions for a space

shuttle are to carry satellites and other equipment into space and repair them there if necessary and to allow astronauts to conduct

space experiments for studying weightlessness called "microgravity."

SPACE SHUTTLE

SATELLITESatellite is an object which has been

placed into orbit by human endeavour. Such objects are

sometimes called artificial satellites to distinguish them from natural

satellites such as the Moon.

After the world's first artificial satellite, the Sputnik 1 was launched, thousands of satellites have

been launched into orbit around the Earth; also some satellites have been launched and

assembled in orbit. A few hundred satellites are currently operational.

SATELLITE

A few space probes have been placed into orbit around other bodies and become

artificial satellites to the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and the Sun.

SATELLITE

SATELLITE

Satellite orbits vary greatly, depending on the purpose of the satellite, and are classified in a number of ways. Well-

known (overlapping) classes include low Earth orbit, polar orbit, and geostationary

orbit.

SATELLITE

Satellites are usually semi-independent computer-controlled systems. Satellite subsystems attend many tasks, such as power generation, thermal control, telemetry, attitude control and orbit control.

SATELLITE

Satellites are used for a large number of purposes. Common types include

• Military and civilian Earth observation satellites• Communications satellites • Navigation satellites• Weather satellites• Research satellites• Space stations and human

SPACE PROBE

space probe, space vehicle carrying sophisticated instrumentation but no

crew, designed to explore various aspects of the solar system.

A space probe is launched with enough energy to escape the gravitational field of the earth and navigate among the planets. Radio-transmitted commands and on-board computers provide the means for midcourse corrections in the space probe's trajectory.

SPACE PROBE

Radio contact provides a channel for transmitting data. Space probes also carries various space instruments.

SPACE PROBE

A probe may be directed to do many missions. The particulars of trajectory and instrumentation of each space probe are tailored around the mission's scientific and technological objectives.

SPACE PROBE

The earliest space probes in the U.S. space program were the Mariner series and the Pioneer series.

And many more space probes were sent out exploring the Solar System for means of life and mapping.

SPACE PROBE

Some notable probes

Luna 16

First unmanned robotic sample

return probe from the Moon.

Lunokhod 1

First rover on Moon.

Mariner 10

First probe to Mercury.

Venera 3

Probe from the Soviet Union was the first man-made spacecraft to impact on another planet (Venus).

Venera 7

The Venera 7 probe was the first man-made spacecraft to successfully soft landing on another planet (Venus) and to transmit data from there back to Earth.

Mariner 9  Upon its arrival at

Mars on November 13, 1971, Mariner 9 became the first space probe to maintain orbit around another planet.

Mars 3 First soft landing on Mars.

SojournerFirst successful rover on Mars.

SPACE TECHNOLOGYSpace technology is technology that is related to entering, and retrieving objects or life forms from space.

"Every day" technologies critically rely on space infrastructure. Of sciences astronomy and Earth

sciences most notably benefit from space technology.

Computers and telemetry were once leading edge technologies that might have

been considered "space technology" because of their criticality

to boosters and spacecraft.

Space requires new techniques and knowledge. New technologies originating with or accelerated by space-related endeavors are often subsequently exploited in other economic activities.

SPACE TECHNOLOGY IN THAILAND

As one of Asia’s leading commercial satellite company, THAICOM Plc. has conceived and developed a new generation of broadband satellite that would serve the demand for high-speed broadband Internet access in the future.

THAICOM developed IPSTAR technology to increase system capacity and efficiency such that the cost of service would be considerably lower

than that currently provided by conventional satellites.

SPACE TECHNOLOGY IN THAILAND

THAICOM 4 is the first of the new generation of broadband satellites that acts both as an Internet backbone connection to fiber optic cables for ISPs and as a last-mile broadband Internet service to consumers, competing with cable modem and

ADSL.

SPACE TECHNOLOGY IN THAILAND

THAICOM 4 satellite is one of the largest communications satellites ever built. THAICOM 4 is also the first broadband satellite in the world.
