Newsletter

It’s August already, and that means we are wrapping up our summer

fun and learning! We have a couple more weeks of our summer curriculum; and

then we start our new fall curriculum; which is really exciting.

Our Meet the Teacher Night will be on Monday,

August 19, from 5:30 to 6:30. Come and meet your

new teacher, get to know some new friends, and

check out your new classroom!

Our classroom move-ups will happen on August

26. Most students will be in a new classroom with a

new teacher, and make new friends.

Do I have to bring

my child by a

certain time?

No, but during our

school year, we en-

courage you to be here no later

than 9 am, as that is when the cur-

riculum instruction time begins.

Rooms 1, 2, and 3 In the month of July,

the babies in rooms 1, 2,

and 3 enjoyed learning

about the sensations of

warm and cold. One of the

activities they did was play

in warm and cool water.

Ms. Jennifer’s Room 1

babies made hand and

footprint flags for Independ-

ence Day. She shared that the babies also

loved going outside and relaxing in the out-

doors on the quilt she

brought.

Ms. Celina states,

“The Room 2 babies

went crazy for the wa-

ter activity. They were

thrilled to splash in the

warm and cool water. They were sad when the

activity was over and I put the stuff away.”

Ms. Danette shares, “Room 3 really liked

our sensory warm and cold water spraying.

They also liked learning

“The Hokey Pokey.” One

of their fun crafts they

made was a bowl of veg-

gie soup.

In the month of Au-

gust, the babies in rooms

1, 2, and 3 will learn the color blue, their theme

will be “Open and Close,” and their shape will

be oval. Their song

will be Good Morn-

ing To You, and

their rhyme will be

“Where Is Thumb-

kin?” They will also

learn the baby sign

for “diaper.”

Rooms 4, 5, 6, and 8 Room 4: In the month of

July, the toddlers in Room 4 learned

about water. They had lots of fun

floating boats in little tubs in the

room, and doing crafts, songs, and

imagination play about water;

such as playing making a pretend

boat with the big blocks, singing

“Row, Row, Row Your Boat,” and

practicing the rhyme “Frogs at the

Pond.”

In the month of August, the

Room 4 toddlers will learn about Big

Animals; and Ms. Anna has some fun

activities planned for this theme; in-

cluding playing with “Brown Bear”

puppets; as well as reading the story;

and playing with different types of

Big Animals; in-

cluding plush

and realistic plastic versions.

The toddlers will also learn the baby sign

for “diaper,” practice the circle shape, and learn

the song, “Pop Goes the Bunny.” The will focus on

the color red, and learn the rhyme “Five Little

Monkeys.”

Rooms 5, 6, and 8: In the month of July, the stu-

dents in rooms 5, 6, and 8 explored four exciting

themes: On The Farm, Under the

Ground, In Our USA, and On The Island.

Ms. Sylvia shared that Room 5

especially loved the Island theme.

They enjoyed the exotic fruit taste test,

and making their own “islands,” com-

plete with sand, and a palm tree.

Ms. Christina said that Room 6 loved the

patriotic music we all enjoyed during “In Our

USA” week. Captain Omar Villarreal’s friends

from the Air Force shared anthems and one of

our favorites...the Sesame Street theme. This

quartet did an awesome job, and Naomi was

proud to have her Daddy there to organize the

event.

Ms. Christina says she’s looking forward to

some fun learning during Desert week in August.

Rooms 1, 2, and 3; continued...

glers. They will also be

making balloon art, and

“ice cream” handprint

art.

Ms. Danette plans for her

children to build their own Room 3

barnyard. They will enjoy learning

about “Going Places.”

Ms. Karina said that the “In the USA”

week was special for Room 8, as well.

Room 8 learned that Frances Scott Key

wrote the Star Spangled Banner, and the

class learned the meaning of the symbolism

of our flag. During the week, we wanted to

meet some military parents, so Emma’s dad

came. Mr. Quach explained his job in the

military, and also talked about safety regarding medications. The class al-

so discussed citizenship; and even set up their own “town” in class, com-

plete with a mayor, police, and doctor.

Ms. Karina says her friends in

Room 8 are looking forward to tasting a

cactus during desert week; and building

Captain Villarreal

enlisted some of

his musically tal-

ented friends from the Air Force Band to form a quartet

that came and inspired us with patriotic songs, as well

as taught us a little bit

about instruments.

They also played the

Sesame Street theme.

joyed it; from the babies

on up...and the staff truly

enjoyed it as well.

School Age

Summer Camp

The summer campers

have been busy and on-the-

go! Zoo, bowling, the Witte,

Silver Stars Basketball, and

swimming are some of the field

trips they enjoyed in July. The

learned about Florida, North

Carolina, Colorado, and Ha-

waii.

In August, they will be going to Fies-

ta Farms, tour HEB, go to Incredible

Pizza, and Zoomagination is coming

here to our school. They will learn

about Idaho, California, and Arizona.

Special Note: Toys and Personal Items at School

We discourage you from letting your child bring toys and

personal belongings to school; with the exception of a fa-

vorite stuffed animal for naptime and/or show and share

day.

One reason is because these precious items often get lost,

misplaced, or borrowed by a friend.

Thanks so much for your cooperation in this matter.

Zoomagination is coming for the enjoyment of

our entire school Wednesday, on Aug. 14. They are

bringing a hedgehog, a wallaby, and much more! Par-

ents and Grandparents are welcome to come. Ask the

front office for times closer to the event date.
