Electronic Rust Protection

A first in industrial corrosion control

• New 6 Channel System - Drives 18 anodes• Protects up to 200m2 of Steel per system• Multiple RSi systems can be connected in series for

larger projects i.e. modular• Anodes corrode and replaced

after 2 years

RSi Industrial

• Industrial roofs• Machinery• Air conditioning units• Towers• Piping• Marine equipment• Cranes• Stair cases• Tanks• Platforms• etc….

First we need to understandhow rust forms.

So how does

stop rust ?

RSi uses the same principal as our world famous vehicle electronic systems sold internationally for over 20 years

Any steel is made up of Iron Atoms (Fe) and Free Electrons. Pure steel would experience very little rust, but the reality is that recycled and low

quality steel is used which contain many Impurity Atoms.

Steel

The impurity atoms have a slightly POSITIVE (+) charge compared to the iron atoms (-). This voltage or potential difference averages at about 1.1 volts

Steel

Because the Impurity Atoms are positively charged in relation to the Steel (Fe) and the Free Electrons are negatively charged, there is an attraction of

Free Electrons towards the Impurity Atoms (positive attracts negative)

When there is moisture present, the moisture provides a path, or electrolyte, for the Free Electrons to move through and they then move freely towards and react with the Impurity Atoms.

THIS REACTION IS KNOWN AS RUSTTHIS REACTION IS KNOWN AS RUST

Free Electrons (e) IN THE STEEL

RustStop®RustStop® uses both Sacrificial Anode and Impressed Current technologies

RustStop® in an OFF state

The +45V charge on the anodes, causes a stronger attraction of Free Electrons than the Impurity Atom of only +1.1V. The Impressed Current then forces the

Free Electrons away from the Impurity Atoms and towards the sacrificial anodes.

Effectively RUST needs Free Electrons in the steel to form.

The Free Electrons are now diverted towards the RustStop® anodes.

The anodes (Rust Magnets™) now corrode rather than the steel.

Success Story:

…had a serious problem with rust on their cooling pipes…

…June 2006 we installed 5 x RustStop RSi systems.

…over the next 2½ years these two areas were monitored…There was absolutely no sign of medium or severe rates of corrosion…

“Our customer was very impressed…”
