MOAunitofarcmeasurementsarebasedondegreesandminutes.Thereare360degreesinacircleand60minutesinadegreeforatotalof21,600minutes(MOA)inacircle.Aminuteofanglewillsubtend1.05inchesatadistanceof100yards.
*Graduations can be calculated at additional distances beyond 500 yds.

Second Focal Plane (SFP) Reticle
ThereticleinyourRitonriflescopeisaSecondFocalPlane(SFP).SFPreticlesarelocatedinrearoftheimageerectingandmagnifyinglenses.TheadvantageofaSFPreticleisthatitalwaysmaintainsthesameappearance.Shootersusingreticlehashmarksshouldbeawarethatthelistedsubtensionsusedforestimatingrange,holdover,andwindagecorrectionareatthemaximummagnification.
TO CHANGE MAGNIFICATION:
Simplyturnthemagnificationringtothedesiredmagnificationlevel.Lowerpowersofferawiderfieldofviewwhilehigherpowersofferazoomedinfocusedview.

TO ADJUST THE RETICLE FOCUS:
1. Lookthroughthescopeatablankwhitewallorwhitepaper.
2. Turntheeyepieceinoroutuntilthereticleimageisascrispaspossible.

Factory Zero
YourRitonriflescopeispre-setfromthefactorywiththereticleinthecenteroftheadjustmentranges.
TO FIND FACTORY ZERO:
1. Dialturretonedirectionuntilitwillnolongerrotate. NOTE-Donotforcetheturretpastit’sstoppingpoint.
2. DialturretoppositedirectioncountinghowmanyMOAitturns.
3. DividethattotalnumberofMOAinhalfanddialtothatnumberforyourfactoryzero.
4. Completethisprocedureforbothwindageandelevationdialstoapproximatelycenterthereticle.
Explanation of Parallax
Parallaxdescribesasituationwherethefocalplaneoftheobjectinthescopeisoffsetfromthereticle.Ifyouhaveparallax,youhaveanopticalillusionthatmustbecorrected.Parallaxshouldnotbeconfusedwithfocus.Parallaxcompensationchangesneitherthefocusofthereticlenorthefocusoftheimage;itsimplymovestheplanesatwhichthesetwoobjectsareinfocussothattheysharethesameplane.
TO ADJUST THE PARALLAX:
1. Setyourfastfocuseyepieceforyoureye.Lookatablankbackdropandturnyoureyepieceinandoutuntilyouhaveacrispsharpreticle.
2. Lookthroughscopeandplacecross-hairontarget.Moveyourheadaroundwithoutleavingexitpupil.Doesthecrosshairmoveorbecomeblurry?
3. Ifthecross-hairmovesorisblurry,setthesideparallaxtoestimatedrange,usethisasyourstartingpointandfinetuneasneeded.

Mounting Your Riton Riflescope
Alwaysusehighqualityringsormountthatmatchyouroptic’smaintubediameter.
TO MOUNT YOUR RITON RIFLESCOPE:
1. Mountthebottomringhalvesormountonthemountingbaseofyourrifle.
2. Placetheriflescopeonthebottomringhalvesandlooselyinstalltheupperringhalvessothatyourriflescopeisabletomovebetweenrings.
3. Beforetighteningthescoperingscrews,adjustformaximumeyerelieftoavoidinjuryfromrecoil.
4. Tightenthescoperingsperthetorquespecsoftheringsormount.
Note - If using Riton scope rings or mount, the recommended torque specs
are 45 in/lbs for the base and 18 in/lbs for the top halves of the rings.
Eye Relief and Reticle Alignment
TO SET A PROPER EYE RELIEF AND RETICLE
ALIGNMENT:
1. Settheriflescopemagnificationtothehighestsetting.
2. Slidetheriflescopeasfarforwardaspossibleintherings.
3. Whilelookingthroughtheriflescopeinanormalshootingposition,slidetheriflescopebacktowardsyourface,payingattentiontothefieldofview.Justasthefullfieldofviewisvisible,stopthemovementoftheriflescope.
4. Withoutdisturbingthefront-backplacement,rotatetheriflescopeuntiltheverticalcrosshairexactlymatchestheverticalaxisoftherifle.Useofareticlelevelingtool,aweighthungonarope,orbubblelevelstohelpwiththisprocedure.
5. Afteraligningthereticle,tightenandtorquetheringscrewsdownperthemanufacturer’sinstructions.

Bore Sighting
Boresightingisapreliminaryproceduretoachieveproperalignmentofthescopewiththerifle’sbore.Initialboresightingoftheriflescopewilldecreasetheamountoftimeandammunitionyouneedtouseattherange.
Thiscanbedonebyusingamechanicalorlaserboresighteraccordingtothemanufacturer’sinstructionsorbyremovingtheboltandsightingthroughthebarrelonsomerifles.
TO BORE SIGHT YOUR RIFLESCOPE:
1. Placetheriflesolidlyonarestandremovethebolt.
2. Sightthroughtheboreatatargetapproximately100yardsaway.
3. Movetherifleandtherestuntilthetargetisvisuallycenteredinsidethebarrel.
4. Withthetargetcenteredinthebore,makewindageandelevationadjustmentsuntilthereticlecrosshairisalsocenteredoverthetarget.
Note - If a laser bore sighting or any other similar device inside the bore
was used, it must be removed before firing. An obstructed bore can cause
serious damage to the gun and possible injury to the shooter.
Zeroing the Scope
IMPORTANT SAFETY CHECKS:
• Alwayscheckyourweaponandsurroundingsforsafety.
• Followallweaponmanufacturersafetyguidelines.
• Alwaysshootfromasolidrestusingconsistentandproperform.
• Besurethatyourtargetisleveltoaidinaccuratesight-inprocess.
TO ZERO THE SCOPE:
1. Startsight-inprocessfrom25yards,fromsolidrestfire3-shotgroup,ensuringthatyoufireatsamespoteachtime.Usegridlinesontargettocenterandlevelyourcrosshairs.
2. Afterthefirst3-shotgroup,makeadjustmentstobringbulletimpacttocenteroftargetyou’reshootingat.Repeatthisprocessat100yardsandyouwillhaveaccurate100yardzero.
Note - Scope graduations are 1/4 MOA. Scope turrets are marked
with direction of bullet impact change. At 100 yards a 1/4 MOA scope
adjustment will move bullet impact 1/4 inch in direction adjusted. At 25
yards that same 1/4 MOA adjustment will be 4 times smaller, so 1/4 MOA
adjustment at 25 yards will move bullet impact 1/16 of an inch
Zero Reset of Turrets
Byzeroingtherifleat100yards,theshootercancalculatehowmanyclicksofadjustmentareneededfordifferentdistancesor
windconditions.
TO ZERO RESET YOUR TURRETS AFTER YOUR RIFLE IS
SIGHTED IN:
1. Removethescrewfromcenterofturretandtakeofftheturretknob.
2. Puttheturretknobbackonwithzerolinealignedwithmarkbelowtheturningknob.
3. Tightenthescrewtolockitin.

Troubleshooting
Problemsthoughttobeassociatedwiththescopeareoftenactuallymountproblems.Taketimetoensurethemountsaretighttotherifleandthatscopeissecuredanddoesn’ttwistormoveintherings.Confirmthatcorrectbaseandringsarebeingusedandintheproperorientation.Besuretotorqueringspermanufacturer’sspecs.
Keepinmindtherearemanyissuesthatcancausepoorbulletgrouping.Alwaysutilizeasolidrestandmaintaingoodshootingtechnique.Haveaqualifiedgunsmithlookoveryourrifletobesureallthingsareinworkingorder.Seethattheactionandbarrelareproperlycleaned.Someriflesandammunitiondon’tworkwelltogether,trydifferentammunitionandseeifaccuracyimproves.
