MADRID BARBARIANS R.F.C. NEWSLETTER NUMBER 2. FEBRUARY 2013
February has been an outstanding month for us as we have won every league match, wich means six victories in a row. Our game is improving every day and the team moral is way up after these positive results against a tough Veterinaria, a surprisingly competitive Toledo and a week Boadilla who didn’t reach our expectations. We are also the first and by now the only team to score over 500 points. Our only defeat this month was against Getafe, who knocked us out of the Copa after our glorious seconds fought to the very last minute against a first division team who didn’t prove themselves as a much better team than us.
We’ve climbed from sixth to second position in the league, wich is very good but we must know that we have still four more matches to play and probably the hardests ones as we are playing against really good squads (Olimpico, CAU, San Isidro and Cisneros) who are also fighting for the top places. On the first round we lost against three of them!
So we better keep our heads on our shoulders and don’t give anything for granted. This league has showed us that aparently week teams on the first round are growing strong, and that we can beat any team on the league, we only depend on ourselves, but we must keep concentrated, train hard and play harder. We must stick to what we have been doing from Christmas until now, keep calm & play rugby.
KEEP CALM & PLAY RUGBY
NEw KitOn February 2nd, on our match against Veterinaria, the Madrid Barbarians wore for the first time their new Canterbury kits with Campus as sponsor. This is the picture that proves it, but there are still four players wearing the old kit. Can you spot them? If you haven’t got your new kit yet... what are you waiting for?
This month we had the unusual chance of having two special training sessions with a great rugby coach, Ryszard Chadwick, who despite his age tought us great rugby techniques and skills to improve individual and team performance. Thank you Rysz for sharing your time and coaching resources with us.
À bientôt Hugo! We have just said goobye to probably the most competitive Barbarian on a rugby pitch, Hugo Grasset, our glorious #7 who has always been a good example of hard work in matches and training sessions. All the best, and see you soon!
