History of rugby

• Rugby began when a boy named William Webb Ellis picked up a football and ran in 1823.

• He came from Rugby which is why it is called this.

Differences between Rugby and Tag rugby

• In tag rugby there is NO CONTACT.

• Men and women can play together.

• Everyone can play tag rugby.

• It focuses on dodging and evading rather than strength.

How to play tag rugby

• There are 7 players for each team.

• One team has to run with the ball to the other side of the pitch to score a point.

• The other must stop them by ‘tagging’ them (taking one of the Velcro tags)

• The ‘attacking’ team has 6 ‘tags’ (chances) to score otherwise the teams swap over.

• Tries are worth 1 point.
