• Rural employment is one of the very essential needs in India

• As the country is facing economic crises rural employment may have a positive effect

• Encouragement of agriculture and rural industries may prove to be a grate asset to Indian economy

• Thus there’s a need to have a glance on dark & brighter sides of rurel employment …..

Strategies For Employment Generation

• One of the major problems faced by India is migration of rural people

• It is mainly because of lack of opportunities in the villages

• Unemployment and poverty continues to plague Indian economy

• The magnitude as well as the percentage of unemployment & under employment is on the rise ( despite of planed employment programs)

• The employment generation is far below the target.

World Unemployment Scenario

• According to growing unemployment scenario unemployment is rapidly increasing both in Asian and European countries

• In Asia it’s increasing from 2% to 5% per annum

• Main cause for this is growing population

• China with 134crore population could provide employment to 96% of its population, but India with its population of 124 corers could hardly provide employment to 30% of total population….

• India stands in a worst condition than that of Bangladesh & Pakistan in unemployment ratio…

NSS(National Sample Survey)report in India(2011)

• According to NSS report there were 2.5crore vacancies by the central and state govt’s in our country

• As per the National unemployment survey report(2011) the unemployment ratio in India is vastly growing without solutions.

• According to the below given graph it is paradoxical truth that the unemployment ratio is also growing with the population.

• These ratio helpful in gaining knowledge of number of people unemployed in the respective states

Growth Rate Of Rural Employment

• According to NSS data b/w 1972 to 2012 the growth of rural employment has increased by 2% per 9224, but suddenly reduced to1.75 in the year 1992-93.

• While the employment percentage has increased by 2.02 b/w 1997-2002 & 3.2 percent in 2012.

• But the situation is totally different in urban region. The employment ratio increased from 4.31(1997-78) to 5.08 in 2012

Employment generation programs• India during its 4th five year plan realized the need of

balancing the imbalance in the feild of rural employment & landless agricultural labors

• Thus came in to existence the following programs..

Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Generation Act

• MGNREGA implemented in 2006 guaranteed 100 days of unskilled work to an adult family from rural house hold..

• The problem of unemployment can be eradicated by increasing productivity of dry land agriculture.

• In this regard there's a grater need of research and developmental methods

• Development of infrastructural and marketing arrangements for the growth of non agricultural activities in rural arias is the need of the hour ..
