Dear Parishioners,
This coming week you will be receiving a letter from me regarding the annual parish collection which has been so successful over the past several years. Father Friedrichs had explained to me how important the revenue from this collection is to the financial health of the parish. You may remember that a few years ago major work had to be done on the roof in connection with the air conditioning unit. Funds were taken from savings to pay for this work with the intention that revenue from the annual collection would replenish the savings. Much of this has been repaid but we still have about another $22,500.00 to bring the savings back up to where they were before the work. It is important to do this as there are always new projects that come along that may need to draw on savings. Hopefully this year’s annual collection will bring us close to replenishing the savings. The annual collection is also important for balancing the annual budget of the parish. Operational revenues consistently fall short of our annual expenses. This is especially true this year as regular Sunday revenue over this summer has dropped significantly, as compared to summers of prior years, probably due to the change in Mass schedule. With all this in mind I ask you to prayerfully consider what you can contribute to this important annual collection while continuing to be generous to your weekly budget contribution.
